Surviving A Genocide 12/23/2022

Surviving A Genocide Consolee Nishimwe is a survivor of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda and lived through the horrors of that genocide at the age of fourteen. Consolee suffered insurmountable physical and emotional torture for three months, hiding from place to place to evade capture and certain death. In the end, she miraculously survived with her mother and younger sister, but her father and three young brothers were savagely murdered. Consolee’s miraculous and inspiring story of survival is a grim testament of hope and faith triumphing over tragedy and provides lessons that will help anyone who is grappling with difficulties in their life. She is a committed speaker on the genocide, a defender of global women’s rights, and an advocate for other genocide survivors. This conversation contains very difficult topics, so be aware. Surviving a Plane Crash Jamie Hull is a former army reservist and plane crash survivor. Whilst training for his private pilot’s license in 2007, Jamie’s aircraft caught fire and his aircraft crashed, with him leaping from the wing moments before impact. Jamie sustained horrific injuries which included over 60% of his body suffering from 3rd and 4th-degree burns. Joy is the author best known for her 1981 classic novel "Obasan", based on Joy and her family’s forced relocation to Japanese internment camps during the Second World War. She was made a member of the Order of Canada, the Order of B.C., the Order of the Rising Sun, and has received seven honorary doctorates in literature, law, and divinity from several Canadian universities.
