#115: Shame, Fear, Love and Compassion - A Panel Discussion
I've been thinking a lot recently about Shame and about the next stage of our Shelter in Place experience now that we are in the second month of the current Shelter in Place rulings. At the same time some states are lifting the restrictions and many people are protesting the bans. As is so often the case, when human being feel afraid we get reactive and either fight or flee. In my conversation with Sunne Justice, David Sauvage and Josh Whiton we talked about the connection between Shame and Fear, Compassion, then Love. But ultimately I think it might be about surrender, too. This came about because last week, I asked my friends what topics they thought I should create content. Sunne Justice, suggested that I write about the most Shameful think I've ever done, that lead to me changing my life forever. The woman doesn't pull any punches. So we got together the next day to talk about shame. I thought I'd share that conversation with you.

An overview of the top-level suggestions from experience homeschooling parent, educational supervisors, ed tech investors and home learners for families facing school closures as a result of the Covit-19 Coronavirus Outbreak and resulting SF Bay area Shelter-in-Place. Lisa's , and Speak for Yourself Show Sponsor: Outschool's about free classes of 1517 Learning at Home Interviews with Marlow Schmauder, Jamie Heston, and My personal top-level takeaways. I will also be compiling and sharing actionable ideas: This is a sanctioned opportunity to connect with and learn about your self and your love ones (of all ages) and find glimmers and sparks of your innate love of learning. (Put the acquisition of content on hold as much as possible.) Adopt a parent-as-consultant model rather than parent-as-manager. Get curious about, and with your kids and co-create your learning environment and plan. Focus on meta-learning and meta-cognition skills now (and always) because learning how to learn is the most relevant and useful skill you can strengthen in yourself and scaffold for your kids. (I'll be sharing more on this in the next few days.) Now is the time to put your attention on what you value, remember or identify your priorities, ask what is needed and how you can serve and bring good. This query is a great learning topic to share with kids. If you're not sure of how much or how little structure to request or expect use my model of Consumption = Creation = Contribution. Try to ensure that you and your kids are doing all three in relatively equal measures. Expand your understanding of what appropriate structure could and should look like. Use the skills you know and find useful in your adult life at home and with your kids. Teach them productivity, communication skills, and any content expertise you are excited about. Leave the things you dislike about regular work at work. Embrace and use the opportunity to soften all of the edges that generally create conceptual and actual walls. All ages together, blending of work/learning/home/family, customization, pivoting as needed. So much possibility. Follow Lisa @lisabl @lisabl Subscribe and Review to the Super Power U Podcast on , ,

#109: Seeing the Deeper Design with Evolutionary Guide Jason McClain
has been studying advanced models of interpersonal communication and personal development and applying them to real-world situations for over 25 years. He talks with Lisa about his company and his work as an Evolutionary Guide, and how he works with clients to accelerate their personal and professional evolution. Jason shares some takeaways and wisdom from working with over 500 clients in their individual evolution, what NLP is, why it can help us move forward in life, and what healthy boundaries look like with the spiritual teacher/student relationship. @lisabl @lisabl Highlights: A big shift for Jason in his life was realizing that he loves being of service, and whatever makes an individual sad, happy, fearful, and hopeful is relative to their unique situation. Jason is a vipassana meditator and has been on nine 10-day silent meditation retreats. He is an NLP master and holds NLP training classes and courses through his Jason prefers to use the term “evolutionary guide” instead of coach, because he truly guides through stages, standing shoulder to shoulder. Jason saw a profound shift when he opened up and spoke freely of his own experience in prison, and people appreciated the honesty and authenticity. Great and ethical leaders have the responsibility of identifying and upholding boundaries. One way to steer the conversation more towards growth and understanding between males and females is to stop blaming every problem in the world on masculinity and start having an open dialogue with clear boundaries between each other. The Four Agreements are the foundation of any healthy relationship: Tell the truth, value truth, and prioritize truth over comfort. We don’t hold each other to agreements we have not made. If you are upset, make a request. You are responsible for your own experience. One of Jason’s many Super Powers is seeing people even deeper than they can see themselves, and predicting outcomes of situations before they occur. Quotes: “You really can overcome everything, it’s all about mindset.” “If you are scared to say it, it’s definitely the thing to say.” “Language really does structure our experience.” “There isn’t enough positive acknowledgment in the world.” “What’s next is always better.” Other Mentions in This Episode:
