Creating a Calm Classroom- Paige discusses ideas with our amazing 3rd grade teacher, Simone, for creating a calm atmosphere in our classrooms. We need to be the thermostat for our students no matter what is going on, we keep that calm vibe going. -Play soothing music in your classroom. Simone loves the youtube channel Soothing Relaxation or Studio Ghibli Music . -Have students help with keeping the classroom neat and tidy and use lamps or fluorescent light filters to soften the lighting. -Set-up expectations from the get-go. Make classroom expectations a focus the first few days of school. Review, revisit and if needed, revise and change these expectations throughout the year. Choose what behaviors to ignore and pick your battles.
