0019 INTERVIEW | Direct Democracy, Libertarianism & "Britain's Vilest Troll"
This week we dive headlong into controversial comment with a man dubbed by The Daily Mail as "Britain's Vilest Troll". He uses twitter here: The video we link to is here: - it's the start of a huge rabbit hole for any new listeners we may have picked up while the podcast was away... a rabbit hole you were likely down already if you've found this podcast. There's a nice trailer for this podcast which comes up around 32 minutes in, I put out a teaser for it here on Twitter: Just writing this as I listen back, I'm really conflicted about it, I think that's a good thing. The guest is a perfect example, I don't agree with some of his sense of humor but there's real value in this conversation. I've joked online that I'm trying to entirely re-invent the medium of podcast with this little thing we're doing here... one of the things I'm super keen on is that we nail interactivity. I always dug stuff where there were nice hidden extras for people who put a bit of extra effort in. Writing a mini-essay here seems like a good example. One human to another; what do you make of what's going on right now in the world? We're going to do some callers again soon, want to be one of them? Either record something and post it somewhere, I'll rip the audio and include some of it on the podcast with a link, or contact me and we'll try set up a quick skype call or something. The cool thing about what we've got here is there's a bunch of people who have all fixed onto an algorithm of some kind. You, by virtue of the fact you're reading this, are part of that. Let's hear what we've all got to say... We're an interesting tribe. Hip to a lot of stories that are now mainstream news, fortified with a philosophy that challenges tyranny at its root with the word "maybe", interested in magic and the hidden nature of reality, open to new ideas yet keen to be able to criticise them. Speaking of which, here's the link to the video where Chris Morris discusses the reality of faked terror attacks on Channel 4 news: This is the Peterson video someone sent me, I don't think I watched it all but interesting point even so: Finally, during the podcast hiatus I've been mucking about at open mic nights. That's what's happening at the end. Me and a buddy of mine are bashing out a song we wrote, recorded it on a mobile phone. It's called "Black Cat" and it's about the oncoming apocalypse. Neither of us are "true believers" in that sort of thing but right after we performed our first paid gig: COVID 19 and the global pandemic struck! So, y'know, in magical (fictional) terms maybe we helped kick off the long promised "awakening" that New Agers go on about? If so, Hail Eris! All Hail Discordia!
