Episode 683: The Top Ten of 2006
The summer is here! We are but two weeks away from the official summer equinox, but it already feels hot and sassy outside. This summer, The Deucecast Movie Show is looking back at years prior to the show's beginning. As we approach our 700th episode, leading up to it we will be doing a series of Top Tens -- each one focusing in on a particular year. Mikey, d$, and #XLessDrEarl invite in Friend of the Show Garrison Ryfun, and G has picked The Year of Our Lord 2006. We run through the year - the bigger news stories of the year, the top ten films, the Oscar noms and winners, even the Razzie Award highlights, plus where we exactly were in 2006... Mikey and Dave freshly married (though not to each other... not yet anyway), Dr Earl building hospitals in the Baja California dessert, and Garrison being the only kid in KinderCare who was familiar with Bong Joon Ho. Enjoy the show this week, and check back next week when we dive into... 1984!

Episode 679: The Meanest Movie Moms
It's a tradition around the Deucecast Movie Show that we always want to honor our moms on Mother's Day... and sometimes that means showing the world how lucky we are that our Moms are NOT the moms in movies. This week on the show, Friend of the Show, Mr Independent himself Jeremy Burgess, joins d$, Mikey, and #XLessDrEarl to talk all about the worst, meanest, sometimes most murderous and villainous moms in all the movies. From creatures from space to cheerleader moms to grifting moms to abusive moms and more. Plus, Burgess gives his take on not just small indie films to watch for, but some mainstream films that everyone should see. Then, a rousing game of Part 3 Rotten Tomatoes. And, likely the first mention of Club Shay Shay on the podcast ever.

Episode 678: Star Wars Adjacent Movies
As we celebrate yet another May the 4th (be with you), Mikey, d$ and #XlessDrEarl change up their Star Wars topics a bit - instead of fave scenes or ranking the movies, this time, its a look at all the movies that Star Wars inspired... some that turned out to be legendary... some that turned out to be legendarily bad... Can't Force alone, so the crew invites in Fan Fave and longtime friend of the show Hurricane Rhett Barnett, and he gives his own take on the 2024 comedy horror movie "Heretic" as well as a brief chat about the rerelease of "Revenge of the Sith", which has Mikey using the word "Refractory" and Rhett using the phrase "Marital Bed". Then they play what turns about to be a disastrous version of "Everything Everywhere All At Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", which may end up being retired at some point because no one can play the stupid thing (note: d$'s opinion). Then, a top five of Star Wars Adjacent, with some classic Flash Gordon and a chat about Sam Jones and Jacko (OY!), plus star fighters and dark stars and stars with battles beyond them, plus a glave, a hole, Ridley Scott's inspiration, and even kitchen appliances in a classic short film.

Then, the list of films seen over the last 7 or 8 weeks... d$ sees classic Warren Beatty... Dr Earl takes on controversial Netflix... and Mikey finds rare Kevin Smith. Plus, a longer talk on the good and bad of Mickey17... love for Soderbergh... not love for the latest Chris Pratt... docs about Clue, Kaufman (Andy, not Jen), and murderous daughters... prescient pope stuff... Reggie Miller vs Spike Lee... Jack Black successfully always being Jack Black... and much love for the latest Michael B Jordan joint. Then, the first Top Five of 2025!

Episode 672: The Gene Hackman Top 10
Tis a sad fact that we all must face at some point - our Hollywood legends have begun to fall. It was easy to take the deaths of Cary Grant or Bing Crosby or Natalie Wood as we barely knew them as celebrities, only the movies they gave us to entertain us. But it is a sad fact that time is undefeated, and names like Hoffman, Eastwood, Pacino, Streep, Hanks, DeNiro, those celebrities we've watched in their primes and beyond, will become names of the past... thus, Gene Hackman has moved to that hallowed ground. With reverence and love, Mikey, d$, and #XLessDrEarl take a look at the entire filmography of one Mr Hackman, and listing off their own personal favorite roles - all to come up with a definitive Top 10 of Gene's movies. Along the way, they try to define the generation of movie stars in the 70s and 80s (New Hollywood?), plus give quick reviews of new films "Novocaine" and "Black Bag".

Its the NOT 2024 Top Ten, where we highlight films worthy of a second discussion because they just impacted us so much. And for the 3rd year running on this particular episode, Dave, Mikey, and #TwitterlessDrEarl welcome in Friend of the Show, streaming live from the freezing metropolis somewhere in Bainbridge, Wyoming, that is one Jacob "Roth from Wyoming." Together, the foursome discuss their top ten faves of the year from all over the place, as far back as the early 20s and 30s to all the way through the 60s and 70s and in 2010s and 2020s... assigned movies come into play as films others were asked to watch appear in various Top Tens, while Burgess recommended movies keep coming up as well. Mikey is loving some old Gena Rowland and Walter Matthau as an action star, while #XLessDrEarl digs into more music docs, Dave revisits a Hallmark fave, and Roth finally sets sail on the ship of dreams. Plus, why did Green Book get so much hate, Eastwood represents (even if he is a d-bag of a romantic partner) and Powers Boothe makes another list. Also... Episode 659: The Best Christmas Movie Draft Ever
Two voices always emerge every December, even if they haven't been heard on the show all year... first, The Cheetah Girls, reminding us that it is, in fact, a Marshmallow World... and second, the beloved Carnegie Hall headliner herself, Jennifer Kaufman... and it's now that very time! In this episode, Mikey and d$ welcome in Friend of the Show Roth from Wyoming and the aforementioned Jenny Kauf, not only to catch up a little, but also to do our very first Christmas Movie Draft. Picking films to fit into 7 categories - Movies with Santa... RomComs... Christmas Comedies... Christmas Classic films (anything from the 20th Century, really)... Unconventional holiday films... Short films (60 minutes or less)... and Wild Card... each of the foursome picks and drafts movies to their own lineup, in an effort to have the best Christmas Film lineup of the show! And you decide -- let us know on X or in our DeuceCord which movie list you think won the day!
