TGE #81 - Wokeness: What It Is and Its Pros and Cons
“WOKENESS” - WHAT IT IS AND ITS PROS AND CONS - George went down the rabbit hole to study and understand the concept of being ‘Woke’. In this podcast he discusses what he has learnt about the concept - its origins, the pros and cons of the ‘Woke’ concept, and how its principles can, and have been applied positively and negatively in corporations today. He recognises that the concept has a strong connection to the Black Lives Matter and Me Too movements, but it is more than that. Regardless of what anyone thinks of the idea of 'wokeness', it was always intended to be a positive and value adding idea. Why did he record this particular podcast? Ultimately the reasons were these: (a) To make sure we understand the concept fully, (b) To recognise when it is being used and applied in a negative way, and (c) Personally to work out how it can be used positively to add value to society.
