Hey folks, I’m taking a break from releasing new episodes of The Rural Woman Podcast during Harvest 2021, but not to worry – we’ll be rereleasing some of your favourite interviews in the meantime to keep you company. Welcome to this week’s episode of The Rural Woman Podcast. Today’s episode is a little different as you’ll be hearing me be interviewed by my dear friend Annabel Morgan. You may remember Annabel from where I was able to meet up with Annabel face to face down in Montana. Annabel is a rancher and agvocate for the beef industry and really all parts of agriculture. I am so thankful to have Annabel as my self-proclaimed calf mentor. Annabel put out the question on social media if people would like to hear her interview me for The Rural Woman Podcast and the response was an overwhelming yes. So I hope you enjoy today’s show learning a little more about me. Failing Forward Through Homesteading with Sarah Cross
On this week’s episode of The Rural Woman Podcast, you’ll meet Sarah Cross. Sarah was born and raised in sunny SoCal and never imagined she would be living on a 36 acre, semi-off grid homestead in rural Indiana. Sarah, along with her husband, have made a conscientious shift from a consumer-driven city to an intentional life in the country with a focus on homesteading and self-sufficiency. Canning, gardening, raising chickens, sewing, cooking, training a livestock guardian pup, and beginning her own body care business are just some of Sarah’s intentional-living pursuits. She manages all this while working full time. Next steps include selling eggs, produce, and handcrafted soap at a local farmers' market and teaching others how to take first steps into homesteading through classes on her property. While she holds a master’s degree in Archaeology, it is her thirst for knowledge and tenacious spirit that make Sarah’s story unique. More Than Just a Farmer’s Wife with Stacy Bronec
On this week’s episode of The Rural Woman Podcast, you’ll meet Stacy Bronec. Stacy grew up in a small town in Wyoming, and fully planned to become a "city girl" after college. She envisioned a life of high heels, a high-rise apartment, and take-out on every corner. Today, she finds herself wearing boots, in a ranch-style home, with take-out over 50 miles away. In 2012, she "accidentally" fell in love with a farmer in the middle-of-nowhere Montana. They married in 2013 and she moved to his family's farm and ranch in Central Montana, where they raise wheat, pulse crops, and have a commercial cow/calf operation. She is a farm mama to three kids, ages 6, 4, and 1 year old. Their most recent baby was born in an unexpected roadside delivery on their way to town. Stacy and her husband, Rich, delivered their baby in the front seat of the pickup. (Both the baby and the pickup are doing well.) The Rural Woman Podcast 2nd Anniversary - Sneak Peak of Patron-Only Episode with Billi J. Miller
We’re celebrating The Rural Woman Podcast’s second anniversary with a Patron-Only episode with my dear friend Billi J. Miller. Billi was one of my very first interviews all the way back on of the podcast. Billi is an author, photographer, speaker and writer from east-central Alberta, Canada. Previously a city-living, 9-5 Government worker, Billi moved to the country to marry the man of her dreams in 2010, and traded concrete and traffic for life on a 100-year old prairie farm. Our initial intent for this interview was to talk about her newest publishing – Bubble Took A Trip, a children’s book she wrote and self published with her two daughters. We ended up having a meaningful conversation about Billi’s recent farmhouse renovation and what it’s like being the in-law in a multigenerational farmhouse that I left in the interview. I think this is one of my top 5 favourite conversations I’ve had on the show.
