A podcast where we typically discuss and celebrate the films of Gene Wilder, one minute at a time. Season one was dedicated to Young Frankenstein. Season two we looked at Blazing Saddles. With Season three, we moved in a new direction, taking on more of a talk-show format with guests.

TWR Listeners Lounge - Eric Von Haessler In this episode, hosts Alan Sanders and Walt Murray sit down for a chat with the host of the Von Haessler Doctrine, Eric Von Haessler. Although the goal was to start at the beginning, the discussion took on a life of it's own. Rather than the usual trip down memory lane, Alan and Walt spent time chatting with Eric about our current cultural state. It's impossible to know the fullest extent of social media and the internet, but it's hard to ignore the impact on society. From celebrities to politicians, becoming and influencer is akin to the accumulation of power. It's no longer about the will of the people or the Founding Fathers. Rather, it's about popularity and likes, follows, and retweets. This discussion eventually does turn to the creation of The Von Haessler Doctrine. Eric spends time talking about his evolution from The Regular Guys to 911 to losing his job. But, after years of struggling to stay relevent, working on a daily podcast, the opportunity arose to return to the airwaves with a brand new show. Since then, Eric has never looked back, focused squarely on the future of his show and, concurrently, on the future of our great Republic. After the interview, Eric hangs out as Alan and Walt dive into some strange news items, weighing in on them with his own brand of humor. Then, to wrap up the show, all three dive into the entertainment segment where they discuss what they've been watching, reading and listening to over the past week. WATCHING Walt has been diving into season 3 of Lost in Space. He also re-watching We Were Soldiers with Mel Gibson and the documentary The Pacific. Alan continues to give The Wheel of Time a chance, but even after five episodes, he is dubious. He loves the Disney+ series, Hawkeye, which is on episode 3. With the holidays upon us, Alan also watched Die Hard. He then revisited Enders Game, streaming in 4K. He loves watching the YouTube channels, Ashleigh Burton, Popcorn in Bed and The TRY Channel. Eric is starting on the new seasons of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The Expanse. He also loved the new documentary, Get Back, on Disney+. READING Walt is finishing, "Killing the Mob,'" and is next set to read, "Killing LIncoln.." Alan has completed, "Dune." Eric has been into, "2666," and, "The Savage Detectives," by Roberto Belano. Eric is also deep into the science book, "The Big Picture," by Sean M. Carroll. LISTENING Walt continues to listen to the podcast. TWR Listeners Lounge - Jim Dunham In this episode, Alan Sanders and Walt Murray chat with cowboy historian, performer and artist, Jim Dunham. Jim joined us back in season two as an Old West expert to help with with five episodes of Blazing Saddles. This time we wanted to get his history. Jim Dunham first became fascinated by the Old West after watching the Davy Crocket Show on The Wonderful World of Disney. The show led him to the library to read more about him and other characters from the West. By the time he was in college, he was taking acting classes and learning how to speed-draw and do gun tricks. Jim loved to learn the history of the West and soon found a job at 20th Century Fox studios performing in a Wild West Show. His career was growing when he was called to serve in the Army for a time. When he finished his service, he tried to get back into the film industry, but wasn't making any in-roads. He created a one-man show, performing all over the United States. Along the way, he would help actors with proper gun techniques. He also made himself available to help with Western screenplays. One of those just happened to be for the film, Tombstone, by Kevin Jarre. Tombstone, though still not entirely accurate, may be the closest we can get to the events leading up to and after the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. The Booth Western Art Museum Jim found his way to NW Georgia, getting hired as a special projects manager at the Booth Western Art Museum. The museum is a world-class, Smithsonian affiliate. In 2020 and 2021, it was listed as the number one art museum in the United States according to a USA Today Reader's poll. While continuing to work at the museum, Jim created a 30 minute show, recreating the OK Corral gunfight every October during the Cowboy festival. Jim still loves to tell stories, even if his draw is getting slower. At the age of 78, he still loves to entertain an audience and hopes to keep doing so for years to come. Jim can be heard every Tuesday morning at 8:40AM on WBHF radio hosting a segment called, "Stories That Won the West." After Jim's interview, Alan and Walt talked about movies for a few minutes before diving into their odd news segment. They then ended with the entertainment segment, where they discussed what they have been watching, reading and listening to. WATCHING Walt started to dive into season 3 of Lost in Space. Alan has not seen any prior seasons to which Walt told him to stop watching anything else and catch up with the show. Alan watched episode 4 of The Wheel of Time and admits he may not watch too many more if it doesn't get better. He re-watched WandaVision with his daughter and still thinks it's been the best MCU extension for the small screen. Alan also gave two thumbs up for the first two episodes of Hawkeye to drop on Disney+. He and his wife watched the 1994 remake of Miracle on 34th Street and went to the theater to see Ghostbusters Afterlife. Alan liked it, but said it wasn't as good as the first Ghostbusters movie, but far better than the sequel. As to YouTube, he suggests Ashleigh Burton, Popcorn in Bed and his newest wormhole discovery, The TRY Channel. That last one is basically Irish people simply sampling foods or beverages and reacting. READING Walt is still trying to finish, "Killing the Mob," and Alan is still trying to finish, "Dune." LISTENING Walt has started to listen to , a podcast by two Peloton users. Sean began his career initially thinking he was going to become a lawyer. However, after getting an English degree, he was convinced to become a high school teacher. Within his first year, he was asked to assist with 9th grade basketball. His vision of perfecting a team strategy did not go as planned. As he says, he face-planted hard. The revelation that there was more to team-building than just X's and O's hit him hard. Sean began to formulate his thoughts on leadership and team building, leading to his first book. As his teaching and coaching career continued, he began to explore a parallel career in consulting. He continued to write new books on team building and leadership, adding new lessons to the ones he learned. After 20 years, he made the decision to retire from teaching and focus full-time on leadership and team consulting in the private sector. As usual, the interview begins with going back to Sarah's beginnings and slowly working toward the present. Many actors get their start after getting bitten by the acting bug and Sarah was no different. She took the plunge and moved to LA and has never regretted it. The work was slow initially and the parts small. But, with hard work and determination, she began to grow her resume and gain more substantial roles. As a B-movie actress, she is quite rooted in reality, knowing the movies need to be taken with a grain of salt. While in LA, she married and eventually had two kids. With her children now part of the picture, Sarah Lieving has become more focused on the roles she is wanting. She loves being with her kids and does not want to be constantly away from them. With a new management team around her, she wants to focus on picking projects that will push her in a more mainstream direction. Sarah was not able to stay on past the interivew, so after thanking her for her time, it was time to jump into a movie reivew. Just in time for the start of the holidays, Walt was tasked with Santa Jaws. Surprisingly, Walt liked the movie and felt it was a cut above many of the ones he has watched this season. Next, Walt and Alan dive into a few odd news items from around the internet. Finally, they move into their entertainment segment to discuss what they have been watching, reading and listening to. WATCHING Walt started to watch the new Netflix docuseries, Catching Killers and strongly recommends it. He also said that Stripes was now showing on Netflix. Alan finished his Harry Potter marathon by watching The Half-Blood Prince and The Deathly Hallows part 1 and 2. TWR Listeners Lounge - Demond Wilson In this episode, hosts Alan Sanders and Walt Murray welcome actor Demond Wilson who starred in Sanford and Son as well as other shows and movies. As always, they start by going to the beginning. Demond was born in Valdosta, Georgia, but moved to Harlem, NY shortly thereafter. By age 4, he was starting to do voice work on the radio. He loved to perform, working his way to the Apollo Stage at age 12. He continued to work on his talents, while also staying involved in sports throughout high school. His country called him into service just before he turned 20. He joined the Army and served almost two years in Vietnam before getting wounded and returning home to the states. Upon his return, he dove head-long into theatre and getting small roles in films. Perhaps his biggest break was being cast opposite Redd Foxx in the hit television show, Sanford and Son. Playing the role of Lamont, son to Foxx's, Fred, the duo would go on to make television history. As Demond puts it, beyond opening doors for other black actors and shows, Sanford and Son was funny! He reminds everyone, without the humor, none of the other messages of the show would have lasted. He would continue to act, but as he got older, felt a calling to the ministry. He always knew God was calling him to serve and when the time was right, he made the move. In between, Demond Wilson has written a pair of books. The first deals with his views of where the world and society is going called, "The Millennium: A New Age Expose." The other deals with his memoirs from being on the set of Sanford and Son called, "Second Banana." Demond did write a children's book years ago, but now wants to update it and release it in the coming year. He also has a few other projects in the works, but is waiting for life to get a little closer to normal. After thanking Demond for his time, Alan and Walt decide to forego the movie review. Instead, they dive into odd news before jumping into the entertainment segment where the remind everyone what they have been watching, reading and listening to over the past week. WATCHING Walt recommends the docuseries, Bad Sports, on Netflix. He also loves, Only Murders in the Building on Hulu. Finally, as only Walt can say with a straight face, the "fantastic" movie, Tommy Boy, is now running on Netflix. Alan watched Dune (part 1) for a second time and loved it even more. He caught the documentary, The Show Must Go On: Queen + Adam Lambert and said it was a feel-good watch. He then watched, Metallica: Some Kind of Monster. Finally, on YouTube, he tries to never miss the reaction videos for Ashleigh Burton. READING Walt has ordered some books, but hasn't had time to read any. Alan claims he is trying to carve out time to finish reading, "Dune." LISTENING Walt likes to listen to, podcast, podcast and podcast. TWR Listeners Lounge - Pete Davis In this episode, hosts Alan Sanders and Walt Murray sit down with Atlanta radio veteran, author and podcaster, Pete Davis. Well before Pete got into writing and podcasting, he thought he was going to be an actor. He wanted to move to LA and be a star. That was until he saw a live radio show. From that point, he was focused on a career on the air waves. And, sometimes, being at the right place at the right time is all a person needs. When the opportunity arose to be involved in an evening talk show, he ran with it. Along the way, he would bring up sports, movies, current events, politics, or whatever else happend to be in his head. However, no story would be as compelling without a little drama. At the height of Atlanta radio programming, WGST decided to launch a brand new branding strategy -- Planet Radio. It will forever go down in history as one of the biggest radio debacles in history. While Pete did manage to survive a lot of the turmoil, it did create some challenges for him. As he was bouncing around, he took up writing and put out a couple of books related to his love of sports. The first one is, "The Totally Biased Guide to College Football." The second is, "I Love Texas/I Hate Oklahoma," and the last is, "Canines of College Football." While using social media to help promote his writing, he decided to get into podcasting. He created the show, , which can be found on most pod-catchers. Given Pete's love of sports, it made sense to spend the last 10-15 minutes of our interview discussing some sports. You may or may not know the teams or the sports, but what you will quickly learn is it doesn't matter! Pete is such a funny guy, you just want to hear what he has to say. Pete was not able to stick around for the rest of the show., so after his interview, Alan and Walt spent time going through odd news stories. They closed the show with the entertainment segment, breaking down what they have been watching, reading and listening to over the last week. WATCHING Walt is almost done with Only Murders in This Building and highly recommends it. He has begun to dive into season 3 of The Movies that Made Us on Netflix and Bad Sports, also on Netflix. Alan saw Dune part 1 and could not praise it enough. He believes is it a cinematic masterpiece, akin to a Christopher Nolan film. The Tell-Tale Heart 11/01/2021

The Tell-Tale Heart For many years, one of the traditions Alan brings to his radio show each Halloween, is a dramatic reading of Edgar Allan Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart. The story is very short and simple. It is only a few pages long. In it, an unnamed narrator is recounting his tale to some unknown audience. He opens asking why would anyone think he is mad? In the narrator's mind, because he can vividly remember the details of his activity and his crime, it should make him sane. He goes so far as to say his senses were all acute, especially his hearing. As the tale unwinds, we learn about an old man with a blue film over one eye. It's that eye which makes the narrator eventually decide the old man must die. What follows is a painstaking telling of how long it would take to creep into the old man's room, night after night. Then, one night, the opportunity is right and the deed unfolds. However, after hiding the body and the evidence of the crime, police knock on the door. All appears well since the man believes he has been too clever to be caught. But, at such a late hour and after all of the night's activity, he finds himself suddenly hearing the sound made by a watch, enveloped in cotton. He realizes the old man's heart is still beating and nothing he can do can make the sound stop. It grows louder and louder until finally the narrator, plagued by his own guilt, confesses the crime to the officers. Alan started the tradition of doing a simple live read. Then, after a few years, added some basic sound effects to supplement the tale. This rendition is the most complex to-date, combining ambient music, sound effects and a new reading of the story. TWR Listeners Lounge - Ian Willett In this episode, hosts Alan Sanders and Walt Murray and joined by Ian Willett, a podcast listener and champion of indie podcasts. Ian is a rare find in any audience. He enjoys listening to hundreds of podcasts each month. So, lots of people do that, right? What Ian does to set himself apart from so many others is by taking a few moments to thank them! He appreciates the time and effort that goes into creating an episode, so he makes sure to share the episode online. It's amazing how few will take just a minute to hit the "share" button on their pod-catcher and post something on social media. Ian doesn't just do that from time-to-time. He does it with every episode. And, on top of the individual attention, he puts out several posts every Friday, listing all podcasts he listens to. In many ways, Ian acts like a part of each podcast's marketing team. Ian helps to spread the word and grow the audience. Alan and Walt wanted to bring him on, not only to thank Ian, but also to shine a well-deserved spotlight on him. Building People Up While chatting, Ian discusses the first podcast he started to listen to and how it's grown to where it is today. They also chat about the sites and sounds of where they grew up and where they are today. It's a fantastic conversation that helps remind us, it's not hard to be kind, to do nice things for others and to appreciate the work of others. Social media makes it very easy to tear people down. Ian Willett is a guy who is doing his part to build people up and shine a light on their efforts. Once the interview piece concludes, Ian hangs out as Walt reviews another film he had to watch based on their weekly poll in their Facebook Group. Then, Alan and Walt share a few news stories that may have not made the local outlets. Finally, all three weigh-in on the entertainment segment, letting the audience know what they have been watching, reading and listening to over the past week. WATCHING Walt suggests the documentary, The Amazing Johnathon on Hulu. He also notes Tommy Boy, Jaws and Talladega Nights are all streaming this month. Finally, he really likes Ted Lasso on Apple TV. Alan went on a binge, watching Black Widow, finishing the series, What If...? on Disney+, Harry Potter movies 1-5 and Cry Macho on HBOMax. Alan also watched season's 2 and 3 of the Netflix series, The Movies that Made Us. Ian and his wife have been watching The Prodigal Son. Also, Ian has made a point of watching the Halloween movies for the first time, having watched 1 and 2 thus far. READING Alan is still trying to make time to read, "Dune," by Frank Herbert to get ready for the newest attempt to hit screens from director Denis Villeneuve. Ian has been going through the Stephen King novels via audio books. He finished Carrie and is halfway through Salem's Lot. Ian also recommends the audio book, "Sandman," by Neil Gaiman. Ian said the production value is incredible. LISTENING Walt caught The Dead and Co. live in concert and loved it. As to podcasts, for those who like true crime, he suggests . Alan just got Iron Maiden's 17th studio Album, Senjetsu, and thinks it may be one of their finest albums. He also suggests the New Age album Deep Breakfast by Ray Lynch for some trippy relaxation. TWR Listeners Lounge - Halloween Special with Autumn Fischer In this episode, hosts Alan Sanders and Walt Murray release their Halloween Special with Autumn Fischer as a guest host. Autumn was a former guest in Season 04: Episode 04. She was also part of season 02, discussing the movie Blazing Saddles. Because so many listeners reached out to say how much they liked the special Rush episode, Alan and Walt decided to do one about Halloween movies. It is important to note, it is not possible to hit every popular Halloween movie or even every genre. Instead, Alan, Walt and Autumn kick back and let the conversation go where it wants. The three begin by diving into some of their earliest memories of movies that scared them. Then they shift into movies they sought in their early teen years in hopes of a good scare. Next, Alan, Walt and Autumn Fischer discuss some of their favorite ghost or haunting movies. They follow that up by talking about their first watched slasher movies as well as classic monster films. As can be expected, the trio go off the main road several times, often finding themselves talking about movies that have nothing to do with Halloween. Ultimately, it's a fun conversation about some of the frightful movies that we all like to turn to during October when we want a good scare or maybe even a good laugh. TWR Listeners Lounge - Beth Kushnick and Caroline Daley In this episode, hosts Alan Sanders and Walt Murray interview long-time Hollywood set decorator, Beth Kushnick and podcast host, Caroline Daley. Before we get into the podcast Beth and Caroline host at Pod Clubhouse, we spend some time chatting about Beth's history. She has been in the business for over 35 years, working on films and television shows, cutting across almsot every genre and locale. We spend time talking about the differences in design versus decoration and how those terms are a little different in film versus stage and television. Beth has had to evolve over time, learning to incorporate elements of CGI into set decoration. As we catch up to her current history, Beth said social media and the internet brought an audience who want to know how to decorate their homes like some of their favorite shows. She began a blog, breaking down the elements of her designs. She eventually began a partnership with an online company who would create the set pieces for private ownership. As she continted to evolve in social media engagement, Beth became a guest on Pod Clubhouse and it led to the creation of a new podcast, Decorating the Set. Caroline and Beth are just at the start of their 3rd season and encourage listeners to send them pictures of their spaces so they can provide tips and suggestions on how to re-stage your own space. After the interview, Alan and Walt share a few crazy news stories, while Beth and Caroline comment. We then end with the entertainment segment, where all four discuss what they have been watching, reading and listening to. Beth is diving head-long into all of her Fall furniture catalogs and just orders the book, "Last Chance Texaco," by Rickie Lee Jones. TWR Listeners Lounge - Misty Rosas In this episode, hosts Alan Sanders and Walt Murray chat with body actor, Misty Rosas, who recently brought the character of Quiil to life on The Mandalorian. Misty first started her career as a gymnast, working to stay flexible and dynamic. She also spent time working as a dancer. As luck would have it, being a few inches shy of five feet tall, she learned she could play characters at Disneyland. She rapidly began to grow her craft as a character performance artist. One of her first block buster rolls was playing the ape in Congo. When the chance came to audtion for Kuiil, she jumped at it. That role has opened up new opportunities for Misty, including a chance to do more acting outside of the body costumes. While continuing her acting career, Misty is also an accomplished pop singer, working on her music between gigs. She is a talented performer on multiple levels and she has really only just begun to hit her stride. After the interview, Walt was once again forced to review a film selected by the listeners in The Wilder Ride LIsteners Group on Facebook. After the painful review, Alan and Walt each shared a pair of crazy news stories from the past week. Then, Misty joined the guys as they jumped into their entertainment segment. TWR Listeners Lounge - Dustin Lollar In this episode, hosts Alan Sanders and Walt Murray sit down with Dustin Lollar, a podcaster and YouTube producer for . We start with Dustin's first brushes with the show and how he and Jeff Lieboff actually crossed paths first. They both love the films of Kevin Smith and met on a dedicated Facebook group. As Dustin become more and more of a fan of the podcast, Radio Labyrinth, he started doing some artwork and even created a private group for the show called The Radio Shack. As time passed, he was brought on the show from time to time. In July of 2020, Dustin suggested porting the content to YouTube and volunteered to edit and produce the stream. Over the last year, he has been building what is basically a side cast to the main podcast. He has become a regular, diving head long into the editing of both audio and video content, while still being an admin for the private group. As we wrap the interview, he hopes to keep pushing the shows even more as the listening and viewing audience continues to grow. After the interview, Dustin hangs out as Walt dives into the movie review. Ironically, Dustin not only saw the same terrible movie, but also likes to watch those kinds of films. Kerry has been speaking to, and empowering, women for years. As a victim of domestic violence herself, she wants to teach women how to protect themselves and their loved ones. She is a strong advocate for the second amendment, but is the first person to tell you, not everyone should have a gun. However, those who wish to be able to defend themselves should not have barriers put in their way. Part of our discussion dives into classic feminism versus the new modern feminism and how they are at odds with one another. We conclude with an announcement by Kerry of a new initiative of hers, through her non-profit, , to help train and pay for the permits for up to 250 women in the Houston area. She hopes that event will be just one of many more to follow around the country. As we move to Walt's review of yet another horrible movie, Kerry sticks around and has fun weighing in on it and the rest of our segments. Initially, the channel provided a spotlight to his incredible guitar work. Pat would take classic television themes and put a hard rock guitar edge to them. He admits his masterpiece is (strongly associated with the Alfred Hitchcock Show). Runner up to that was his Joe Satriani-like rendition of the theme. But, with age and some hearing issues, Pat made a change to creating mini, bite-sized documentaries or did-you-know episodes for his channel. Now, with hundreds of videos to watch, Pat is continuing to find new ways to bring the classic age of TV to life. Pat McCormack hangs out through the remainder of the show, which was an absolute blast. Walt had to review yet another horribly bad film. Then, he and Alan went through some strange news items. Finally, they all weighed in on the entertainment segment, sharing what they have been watching, reading and listening to. WATCHING Walt admits he is still fixated on the Olympics. He continues to binge Hill Street Blues on Hule and is working his way thorugh season two of The Movies That Made Us on Netflix. TWR Listeners Lounge - Barnaby Martin In this episode, hosts Alan Sanders and Walt Murray sit with Barnaby Martin, the star of the YouTube channel, . Barnaby has been drawn to music his entire life, starting as a singer and a member of many different choirs. As he grew in knowledge and experience, he began to write music and learn about its structure and forms. As someone who would love to compose his own pieces, he started to become interested in breaking down other pieces. After a time, he began his own YouTube channel. His ultimate goal was to create a place where he, himself, could learn by analyzing pieces of music, including film scores. Teaching himself how to be a video editor allows him to make wonderful and engaging pieces that teach as much as they explain. They are mesmerizing to watch while listening to his learned analysis. It's almost as if we are "listening in" on his musings! This sets up the episode to be a little different than others. As a musical journey, music has to also be a part of the show. (Hopefully there won't be issue with other platforms where this show posts!) The conversation begins with James Bond and themes to that long-running franchise. This allows all three to embark on a fantastic discussion over favorite themes as well as mentioning a couple not-so-favorite. Afterwards, the show dives into various film composers and some of their scores. As the show winds down, Barnaby Martin encourages folks to follow his work, subscribe to his channel and even engage in the conversation. Unfortunately for Alan and Walt, Barnaby had to drop after the interview. However, the duo plowed ahead, beginning with a review of another horrible D-list movie. Then they went through a few odd news items and wrapped up the show wih the entertainment segment. WATCHING With the Olympics airing, Walt has been watching as much of the Games as he can. He also began to binge Hill Street Blues on Hulu. While also on Hulu, Walt caught the documentary, The History of the Sitcom, and really liked it. TWR Listeners Lounge - Stephanie Stuckey In this episode, hosts Alan Sanders and Walt Murray get a chance to interview the CEO of the , Stephanie Stuckey. After catching up on the last week since the prior show, Stephanie comes to the stage and takes us back 80+ years to the 1930's. He grandfather was carving out a life by selling pecan's to resellers. He eventually began selling them on the side of the road. Within a few years, he enlisted his wife to help bake Southern style treats, like pecan rolls to expand their offerings. As the business grew, they great to a store, added a restaurant and gas pumps. Pretty soon, they grew to another location and then another. At their height, they had well over 350 stores across 40 different states in the U.S. But, as many family business stories go, the family sold the rights to the name and it seemed as though Stuckey's was doomed to eventual obscurity. By chance, Stephanie, the granddaughter of the Stuckey namesake, received a call. Banking her life's savings, she decided to buy back the family business. Now, she is rebuilding the brand the way her grandfather started the business, through merchanise. Embracing online ordering and 21st century markting techniques, including social media, Stephanie is laser-focused on returning the brand to it's former glory. As the interview progresses, they talk about the future of Stuckey's and what Stephanie hopes to see in place five years from now. After the interview, Walt moves into his horrible movie review. That's not to say he does a horrible job revieiwng a movie. Rather, our listeners have selected a horrible movie for him to watch and review. Alan and Walt then dive into their odd news segment. TWR Listeners Lounge - Karen Minton In this episode, hosts Alan and Walt get a chance to talk with former meterologist, Karen Minton, of WSB-TV. Karen's career didn't start with a focus on television or meteorology. After getting her degree in the biological sciences, she was working for Dairy Queen corporate offices. She really thought she was going to be heading down that path. A chance encounter with a news director helped shape the course of her future. Starting on the West coast as a weather reporter, she eventually received a call from The Weather Channel. She isn't sure how they found out about her, but she took the job and relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. After a time, she thought she would be taking a new role in Florida. However, the station had just been sold and the news director said most people were bailing. The pause eventually led to being part of the WSB-TV team on channel 2. As her career grew, she knew she needed to get her American Meteorological Society certification. As a divorced mother of two, she juggled work, raising her daughters, going to school and getting her certification. She spent the rest of her career as a news and weather anchor for WSB-TV, retiring just a couple years ago. Though she has hung up her Doppler Radar, she is eyeing a possible future as a patient advocate. However, before that, she has a few trips she'd like to go on and some fun to be had. Following the interivew, Karen hung out as Walt began his review of another horrible movie he was forced to watch. Next, Alan and Walt each shared a pair of crazy news items. And, as always, they all wrapped up with the entertainment segment, letting us know what they have been watching, reading and listening to. WATCHING Walt began re-watching Arrested Development and binged all of season one. He really enjoyed the start of the series, Life After People on Hulu. Finally, he began watching, The Queens Gambit, and loved the first episode. Alan introduced his visiting Father-in-Law to the reboot of, Star Trek, directed by JJ Abrams. He re-watched, A Fish Called Wanda, Dave, Pale Rider and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Each of those movies is highly recommended. Alan continues to watch the weekly drops of, Loki, and has not yet been disappointed. As to the YouTube channels, he watched Ashleigh Burton react to Thor, Casablanca, A League of Their Own, Snatch and Ferris Beuller's Day Off. The Channel, Popcorn in Bed, reacted to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Pulp Fiction, Independence Day, Arrival and Top Gun. Finally, he always catches The Daily Doug. Karen loved the series, Chuck. She also his hooked on British shows and suggests, Victoria, The Crown, Endeavor, Shetland, Midummer Murders, Outlander, The Durrells of Corfu, Grantchester and Zen. READING Walt and Alan and both trying to finish the Star Trek behind-the-scenes book they both have. Karen just finished, "The Art of Power," by John Meacham, a book about Thomas Jefferson. She's also big into Ken Follet and the Century Trilogy, which cosists of, "Fall of Giants," "Winter of the World," and "Edge of Eternity." The other series is the Pillars of Earth, consisting of, "The Pillars of Earth," "World Without End," "A Column of Fire," and, "The Evening and the Morning." She also suggests, "The Splended and the Vile," by Erik Larson and "Grant" by Ron Chernow. LISTENING Walt continues to pour his way through podcast. He also likes the sports podcast, with Pete Davis. Alan continues to listen to the 2002 album, "," as well as random songs by them via his Alexa. TWR Listeners Lounge - Caroline Daley and Michael Caputo of Pod Clubhouse In this episode, hosts Alan Sanders and Walt Murray get a chance to sit down with Caroline Daley and Michael Caputo of . Alan and Walt were featured on their show, , which dropped in January of 2021. On that show, Caroline and Michael like to bring a spotlight on other podcasts. Alan and Walt had such a fun time being interviewed, they wanted to return the favor here in season 4 of . Caroline Daley and Michael Caputo of Pod Clubhouse each started in media separately, but found each other via a radio program. It did not take long for the two of them to realize they fed easily off each other and it led to the creation of a new podcast. The concept behind Pod Clubhouse was to bring other podcasts and voices together in the spirit of collaboration. As Michael says, they believe in the concept that a rising tide lifts all boats. As they embarked, their brand has become an umbrella for several different shows. While they still think of Interview with a Podcast as their primary show, they have added shows related to dozens of television and streaming shows, a movie themed show where they are looking at 52 weeks of Christmas movies, a show called, Decorating the Set and one called PCH Press Pass. There are several other members of the Pod Clubhouse team, all of which can be found on their website under the page. TWR Listeners Lounge - New Age group, 2002 In this episode, hosts Alan Sanders and Walt Murray meet the family members who make up the New Age group, 2002. The story begins with husband and wife, Randy and Pamela meeting in high school theater. They both had a love for music early in their lives. The two would go in separate directions after high school, getting involved with various bands as part of their musical journeys. After nearly a decade, circumstances returned them both to the Texas area where they reunited. That would eventually become the team who would create the New Age group, 2002. The choice of that kind of music actually came from an event where Pamela was asked to play random, soothing melodies on her flute at a gathering. At the end, those in attendance wanted to know where to buy their music? From the simplest of starts has grown one of the most renowned and successful new age groups of the last few decades. As their daughter, Sarah, grew up in a musically gifted environment, she soon developed her own skills, both as a musician and a singer. Soon her talents were added to mix, creating even more depth and variety of music and melodies. Their most recent album, Hummingbird, is available for digital download and the physical media will be available in mid-July 2021. As one well-respected critic, Steve Shepherd, writes, "It is hard to explain this, but whilst writing this review I haven’t spoken, drank, or moved, and barely even breathed, and only just realized I hadn’t even saved my work, this is how amazingly great this album is, I kid you not, this is without doubt the best instrumental album that 2002 have ever created. Hummingbird will probably go down in musical history as one of the best examples of 21st century New Age music there is, as it really doesn’t get any better than this." On the channel Popcorn in Bed, he watched Cassie and her sister react to a first-time watch of Jaws. He always catches The Daily Doug, especially on Iron Maiden Monday's and The Charismatic Voice, where the host looked at the performance of the song, "Fear of the Dark," by Iron Maiden. TWR Listeners Lounge - Jeff Leiboff In this episode, hosts Alan Sanders and Walt Murray sit down with Jeff Leiboff, one of the hosts of the Radio Labyrinth podcast. They start all the way back to 4th grade, when Jeff and Tim Andrews first became friends. As they got ready for college, Jeff was moving toward a journalism degree. He had taken a few early "graphics" classes in high school, but nothing was computerized at that point. Once in college, Jeff got involved with the campus newspaper and other publications. Within a few years, he found himself gravitating more toward layout and design. An opportunity opened and he spent two years living on a Caribbean island. He enjoyed it, but after a few hurricanes and living hand to mouth, he returned to the states, moving to Atlanta. As his graphic design career continued to grow, Jeff discovered the world of podcasting. Being forced to commute an hour each way to his job, he got hooked on listening to shows on-demand. Jeff tried for years to convince Tim to do a podcast. Finally in December of 2015, the first episode of Radio Labyrinth was released. With the interview winding down, Jeff Leiboff sticks around to help with the rest of the show. Walt first dives into yet another terrible movie review. Then Alan and Walt do their news segment and close with an entertainment recap. WATCHING Walt gave WWII in Color documentary on Netflix a solid endorsement. TWR Listeners Lounge - George Murray vol 2 In this episode, hosts Alan Sanders and Walt Murray bring back former FBI Agent from season three, a show we call, George Murray vol 2. The last time we spoke with George, we spent a good amount of time going through his backstory, from Vietnam through retiring from the FBI. This time we spend almost the entire episode on his FBI background. Alan and Walt start off discussing all the stories hitting the media of late, which were considered false this time last year. So many people's voices were squashed. Alan hopes we all wake up and realize it's better to have more information, not less, especially if the information is wrong. Once George joins, he weighs in on the topic before the interview turns toward his career. George Murray vol 2 begins with a seventh grader who met an agent and decided that was going to be his career. After college and a stint serving in Vietnam, George went to Quantico and became a field agent. Alan and Walt ask about the changes happening in the Bureau at the time, including the start of Behavioral Sciences. This led to a discussion of Wayne Williams and the Atlanta Child Murders. George was actually part of the overall surveillance team. During that time, an incident occurred where a mental health patient stopped taking his meds and decided to break into the building with the FBI and hold 9 agents hostage. A SWAT team eventually had to take him down. The conversation rolls into the recent Colonial Pipeline issue with Russian hackers and how the FBI was able to recover significant funds. Alan and George then share some information about the pipeline situation, leading Alan to ask about politics in the Bureau. After that, Alan and Walt begin to discuss some of the undercover work and arrests across George's career. This leads Alan to remind the audience he is in awe of the vast majority of people working in law enforcement. Alan brings up the latest cyber sting regarding the ANOM service, which netted hundreds of arrests. As the interview winds down, Walt asks about George ever firing his gun and about asking if young people should want to work for the FBI. Alan jumps in with his worry of how law enforcement is getting so much negative press that even police-friendly communities are seeing hiring shortages. George hopes police will get back to where they were and society can move forward with law and order. Then the hosts let him go before finishing the remaining segments of the show, with Walt's horrible movie review, crazy news items and the Entertainment Segment. WATCHING Walt has finished the cartoon, Invincible, on Netflix. Though Alan saved spoilers, they both agree there is one really big unanswered question. But, they both plan to watch season two. Walt like the foreign film, True Crimes, playing of Tubi and Vudu. Finally, he caught, Major Events of WWII in Color and loved it. Alan admitted with his Father-in-Law visiting, they have been watching a lot of movies. Alan saw, Delirious, with John Candy. It was okay. Then he watched Back to the Future 1 and 2 with high praise for the much loved films. He loved re-watching, Gran Tarino, with Clint Eastwood. Then on YouTube, Alan watches, , , , , , and show, What Makes this Song Great? In Rick's recent episode he broke down Pink Floyd's, "." READING Alan didn't have anything to report. TWR Listeners Lounge - Douglas Helvering In this episode, hosts Alan Sanders and Walt Murray chat with classically trained music composer, Douglas Helvering. We start with a look back and Doug's draw to music. He was first pulled in via a choir and became mesmerized with learning more about music and composition. As a PhD professor of music, Doug has spent most of his adult life analyzing and teaching others how to understand music theory. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, he was forced to reevaluate how to reach others while in lockdown. After awhile, he returned to his YouTube channel, commenting on news and thoughts of the day. In the fall of 2020, it was Doug's brother who suggested Doug try a reaction episode. Doug was not really ready for a clash of music genres, but his brother suggested giving an analysis of the Iron Maiden song, "Fear of the Dark." It was a huge hit with YouTube watchers. Within weeks, he gained thousands of subscribers. With a newfound purpose of teaching principles of music theory over top of metal and hard rock pieces, Doug has grown to over 70,000 followers at the time of this recording. Doug truly teaches us what is happening compositionally in the music and how it moves through chords, keys and even lyrics. In some ways, the watcher is getting the benefit of a classical education leveraged on elements of metal and rock. As the episode wraps up the interview, Alan pulls executive privilege and bypasses the normal review of a horrible movie. Instead, they all talk about some of their favorite war films in honor of Memorial Day. After the films, Alan and Walt each provide a pair of odd news items. Then they move into the Entertainment Segment. WATCHING Walt is watching the Robert Kirkman animated series, Invincible. He also re-watched the 70's film, The Towering Inferno. Alan also finished Mare of Easttown and gives it a glowing review. Alan re-watched Togo with his Father-in-Law and that led to watching, Iron Will. Alan also gaves two thumbs up for Guns Akimbo starring Daniel Radcliffe. Finally, in honor of its release on May 25, 1977, Alan re-watched Star Wars with his wife and Father-in-Law. The short got the attention of others who wanted her to direct a feature, which ended up optioned to Netflix. During this, Amanda began her own production company called 13 Curves Productions. Amanda continues to hone her writing and directing craft, revealing her ultimate goal is to one day direct a Star Wars movie. Amanda Raymond joins in the remainder of the show, weighing in on a terrible movie Walt has to review. Alan and Walt then discuss a couple of outrageous news items before diving into the entertainment segment. TWR Listeners Lounge - Chris Lott In this episode, hosts Alan and Walt get a chance to talk to film composer, Chris Lott, about his career in film and his podcast. As usual, the episode opens with Alan and Walt recapping their work and happenings over the past week. They quickly move to welcome their special guest, Chris Lott. Chris remembers his first "score" as being the soundtrack to Maximum Overdrive. The soundtrack was done by AC/DC. One of the tracks was an instrumental and Chris remembers being mesmerized. He remembers asking his parents how he could get more albums of just music. As he grew older, he became aware of his love of film scores. Chris began to gravitate toward creating music and before he even thought of film school, was composing. He admits he has learned most of the craft on-the-fly, diving in head first and learning by doing. Later, his wife, a classically trained musician, would help him with both business and creativity. While growing his list of clients, he and his wife began the podcast . The podcast focuses on their love of film scores and discussing unique ones in each episode. After the interview segment, Chris hangs out with Alan and Walt to riff on the remaining parts of the show. Walt reviews another horrible film selected by listeners who are part of their Facebook private Listeners Group. You can vote weekly on which film Walt gets to review. TWR Listeners Lounge - Gene Ho In this episode, hosts Alan Sanders and Walt Murray chat with photographer, Gene Ho, about his career and being selected to document the Donald J. Trump campaign. As usual, the show opens with Alan and Walt recapping their week. Walt manages to keep his voice through most of the show, but he is still on-the-mend from a recent bout with laryngitis. Both Alan and Walt have been slammed with work and home repair/renovation projects. Once Gene Ho hits the stage, we learn how he stumbled across photography in college. After falling in love with the field, he started doing wedding shoots. He was in the right place to get a gig with the wedding of an Atlanta cheerleader. As he mentions, once you get that first foot in the door, he was able to get more of them to hire him. From that point forward, he was climbing on a rocket. As his business grew he had a chance to attend an event where Donald J. Trump was attending. Gene Ho was hired by a magazine to take pictures. Within a couple weeks of that event, Gene got a handwritten message from Donald Trump complementing him for his work. One thing led to another and Gene was asking to be the photo-documentarian of the Trump campaign. Being on the road, photographing hundreds of events over two years really gave Gene a full perspective of the man and the campaign. After the election, Gene worked to release a book called, Trumpography and is now running for the mayor of his home city of Myrtle Beach, SC. After Gene Ho's interview, Alan and Walt moved into the horrible movie review segment. They then covered crazy news and wrapped with the Entertainment segment. WATCHING Walt is catching up on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episodes. He also watched three films that recently dropped on Amazon Prime: Galaxy Quest, 48 Hours and Buckaroo Banzai. Alan got into a music documentary kick over the last week. He recommends Rush - Beyond the Lighted Stage, ZZ Top - That Little Band from Texas and Echo in the Canyon. He also started the new HBO Max limited series, Mare of Easttown, with Kate Winslet and loves it. He is continuing watching episodes of season 2 of the classic Star Trek. Alan did call out the episode, "Mirror, Mirror," as a particularly good one he just watched. He also finished The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and really liked it.
