Tears and Cheers: Poignant moments in Wauconda Wrestling, part I
What's more poignant, more emotionally gripping: a statle title wrestling match or the person with a physical disability winning his first ever match? Wauconda wrestling coaches reflect over thirty years of coaching and competition to highlight moments on and off the mat that still burn bright in their collective memory, moments of victory with hands held high, and moments of turmoil where tearful eyes held the agony of defeat. Wrestling coaches Tom Nance, Tim Rennels, Todd Costa, and Kurt Rohlwing share moments in which young men and women were molded, often painfully, into young adults. Enjoy these reflections of tears and cheers that capture the essence of high school sports, the arena that challenges the spirit, that crafts the character, that leaves an indelible impression upon participants and all those involved.
