Student of the Gun Radio
During our SOTG Homeroom we have a positive story. Rather than become yet another in the ranks of long forgotten victims of crime, a 14-year-old Kentucky Teen defended his family's home when two armed home invaders broke in. Also, for our Tech Talk this week from EOTech Inc, Professor Paul will discuss a fast way to get on paper when you need to zero a 1:1 optic such as the XPS sight. What exactly is a “fantasy gunfight” and is that a positive thing or a negative? We will consider training, specifically scenario-based training and how that benefits those who carry a firearm for...

Inspired by the Kris Paronto interview with Shawn Ryan, Professor Paul read the book “13 Hours” by Michael Zuckoff. As usual, Paul read the book with a pen and highlighters close at hand. We began the discussion on Wednesday’s public hour and now we will continue addressing this topic in depth. Paul took four pages of notes regarding lessons that can be learned from the attacks on 9/11/12. What is the job of a bodyguard? What did General Patton say about a “good plan”? Why do sheep fear the sheepdog more so than the wolf? We will answer all these questions and more. Don’t miss this...

For our weekly SOTG Homeroom, we will consider two separate situations where being dangerous on demand was critically important and saved the lives of two citizens; one in Chicago and one in Buenos Aires, Argentina. During our Tech Talk segment from EOTech Inc. Professor Paul and Zach will discuss and consider the best options for mounting a mini red dot, such as the EFLX, to a handgun. Did you need more of a reason to support the deportation of foreign invaders? Following the orders of his masters, Joe Biden has continued on his path to do everything he can to damage the United States before he is ejected from the people’s house on January 20th. info_outlineThere is some good news to report from the Motor City. In Detroit, the latest crime reports show that murders are down and at the same time justifiable homicides are up. Why? A lot has to do with the Police Chief James Craig and his attitude and leadership regarding armed citizens.
During our Brownells Bullet Point, Professor Paul considers the precision bolt action rifle. Specifically, we look at entry-level bolt guns and focus on some improvements we can make to them.
Also, keeping with our focus on being dangerous on demand, during our SOTG Homeroom from Crossbreed Holsters, we discover more bad advice from people who should know better. What is “Bear Spray” really all about? We have an OC/Pepper Spray expert to give his opinion.

In the United States, some governmental authorities are strongly pushing the use of bear spray over other methods of protection against bear attacks. From the Montana Hunter Ed Course:
In sudden encounters, bear spray has proven to work. Bears sprayed with bear spray often stop attacking and, as such, are less likely to inflict serious injury. Use a firearm only as a last resort and only if bear spray is unavailable. Always use your bear spray to help a hunting partner who is being attacked. Misdirected bear spray is survivable; bullets are not. Bears wounded with an arrow, knife, or firearm may intensify the attack, and killing a bear charging at full speed is difficult at best. If you shoot a bear in self-defense, leave the scene as soon as it is safe, and report the incident to Fish, Wildlife & Parks immediately.
From www.ammoland.com:
In 2018, Detroit had 25 times the national average of reported justifiable homicides. The police chief of Detroit, James Craig, supports the residents' right to self defense. He supports the issuance of concealed carry permits. From detroitnews.com:
The county's report shows there were 289 homicides in Detroit in 2018, although the county lists all homicides, whereas Detroit, like most cities, doesn't include justifiable homicides in its report because those aren't crimes.
Assistant Detroit Police Chief David LeValley said there were 18 justifiable homicides in the city last year. Including those in the city's count raises the number of homicides to 279 — 10 fewer than the county reported.
Detroit's population in 2018 was listed as 672,662. The number of murders in Detroit were listed as 261. This equates to a homicide rate of 38.8 per 100,000 population. It is the second highest city in the nation. However, the number of murders are considerably lower than they were in 2012, just before Chief Craig took over. The numbers of murders are the lowest in 50 years. The population of Detroit has dropped; thus the rate of murders is still high. The rate was 55.2 per 100,000 in 2012. In 2012, the interim police chief, Chester Logan, blamed the homicide rate on guns.
