TESLA MODEL Y VINS APPEAR IN NHTSA DATABASE

"The Tesla Model Y is now a listed model on NHTSA’s manufacturer page for Tesla, and Model Y VINs can now be decoded using the official NHSTA decoder." reports electrek: "TMC forum user wreese had been checking daily and was the first to report that the Model Y VIN format had been registered with NHSTA, and that Model Y VINs can now be used in NHTSA’s official VIN decoder."

And from Tesmanian: "One key aspect of the Model Y ramp that could play into Tesla’s favor is the company’s experience with the Model 3. The Model Y and Model 3 share 75 percent of their components, so the production process of the two vehicles will likely be similar as well.  Tesla has announced the Model Y with a late 2020 release date, a conservative estimate that has since been moved up to mid-2020. Yet, with numerous release candidates being spotted on the roads, and now VINs being registered with the NHTSA, Tesla seems to be trying to release the Model Y to the market even sooner. Fortunately for the Model Y, the Model 3’s lines have already been refined by Tesla, and a lot of it was due to challenges and difficulties that the company faced in the past."

HYUNDAI AND KIA PUT OVER $110M INTO UK ELECTRIC DELIVERY VEHICLES STARTUP ARRIVAL

"Korean auto giants Hyundai and Kia put more than $110 million in U.K. startup Arrival, which emerged from relative stealth today. The investment immediately makes Arrival one of Britain’s most valuable startups, valuing it at €3 billion ($3.4 billion), a company spokesperson said." according to Tech Crunch: "Their idea is to make electric vehicles at similar costs to traditional fossil fuel vehicles but by drastically cutting costs by using “microfactories” close to major cities for manufacturing. Its modular “skateboard” platform will allow a range of models to be built on one system and its prototypes are already participating in trials by global delivery companies such as DHL, UPS and Royal Mail."

USA: TESLA LAUNCHES NEXT-GEN HOME CHARGER

"Tesla has launched a new home charger. The third-gen Wall Connector features new Wi-Fi connectivity for over-the-air updates, a shorter cord length, and a tempered white glass faceplate." reports electrive: "Tesla has added the new Generation 3 Wall Connector to the company’s online store, albeit only in the US so far. It is available for Model S, Model X, and Model 3 vehicles. Expect the new wall box to create a more convenient home charging experience with its mobile app monitoring and notifications. The new charger will also utilise the company’s frequent updates through the new Wi-Fi connectivity feature."

INCREDIBLE CHEVY BOLT EV DEALS: $10,000 OFF MSRP, LEASE FOR $169/MONTH

"According to a recent report by CarsDirect, GM sent a bulletin to Bay Area dealers stating that the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV is eligible for more than $10,000 in leasing incentives. This pushes the car's lease price to less than $200 per month in select locations." says InsideEVs: "The Bay Area lease deal on the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt LT is shown at $169 for 36 months with $2,219 due at signing. It allows for 12,000 miles per year. The deal is based on a Bolt with an MSRP of $37,495. It factors in $7,250 off for all qualifying buyers nationwide, though local buyers are eligible for an additional $1,400 and current Bolt and Volt owners get another $1,500 discount."
