#248: Take the Pressure Off show art #248: Take the Pressure Off

Own Your Choices Own Your Life

In this Friday Facts episode, I am sharing my thoughts on the pressure valve that we create for ourselves.  Pressure is a normal part of being a human.  We all have deadlines and we have times that require more push than others. But this doesn’t have to be nor should it be an extended period of push and pressure time.  There are times that it is important to take the pressure off. This was inspired by a reading in Melody Beattie’s Journey to the Heart.

#246: HALT - The Premise for Self-Care show art #246: HALT - The Premise for Self-Care

Own Your Choices Own Your Life

In this "Monday mindset'' episode, I am sharing the acronym HALT, from comedian Whitney Cummings.  This acronym came into my world three times in a matter of days so I decided to understand it better and share it with you on this podcast.  Self-care is about filling our own cup up first before we can give to others. This acronym really simplifies the process.  Self-care is about giving the world what is the best of you and not what is left of you.

#245: Let Go of Your Labels show art #245: Let Go of Your Labels

Own Your Choices Own Your Life

In this Friday Facts episode, I share my thoughts about changing our labels or identity.  We give ourselves the identity of what we do for a living, or about our past stories and experiences.  Once we’ve created that label in our head it seems hard to let it go and create a new identity. This quote fits perfectly, “It’s like everyone tells a story about themselves inside their own head. Always. All the time. That story makes you what you are. We build ourselves out of that story.” ~ Patrick Rothf

#243: Your Reaction is the Problem show art #243: Your Reaction is the Problem

Own Your Choices Own Your Life

In this "Monday mindset'' episode, when we want to create lasting change in our lives, we must learn how to be aware of our reactions that are blocking us from creating change.  Life is literally a steep learning curve. We learn by doing, then reassessing the results, recalibrating or not and then trying again.  We can do all this observation without reacting.  In the process of reaction is where we are wasting enormous amounts of energy that we could be using to create more permanent and lasting change.

#240: Fear is Your Teammate show art #240: Fear is Your Teammate

Own Your Choices Own Your Life

In this "Monday mindset'' episode, I am talking about fear and how we seem to think that we should be fearless, or it is easy for others because they don’t have or show any fear.  First, this is not even accurate.  Fearless is not a thing.  Feeling the fear and doing it anyways is more the feeling of how it typically unfolds.  With the right mindset, fear becomes the compass showing us which way it wants us to follow. Learning to embrace that fear is a teammate has been a powerful shift in my life.

Own Your Choices Own Your Life

In this Friday Facts episode, I share a part of me that I have never shared before. I love Harry Potter.  Yup, I said it.  I have loved the story of J.K.Rowling and how she leaned into and brought her vision to life when no one else could see it.  Despite continued rejection, doors closing, hearing no over and over, and being a single mother on social assistance, battling depression and contemplating suicide, she kept going.  What if we all brought that much drive to our vision, what would it look like

#123: Impact Yourself. Impact Your World. with Hilary Gauld Camilleri

In this episode, I am speaking with my friend and incredible photographer, Hilary Camilleri.   Hilary has taken my photos for the past 5 years and she truly has captured my emotional journey, including the picture for the cover of my book. I am so grateful to have Hilary on the podcast and give her an opportunity to highlight her story of impacting others.

Following a rewarding career as a Sales Representative and Territorial Manager at Labatt Breweries Canada, Hilary transitioned to a career in photography, opening One for the Wall in 2008. Since then, she has used her considerable knowledge of business and sales to grow a very successful enterprise, photographing over 3,500 families in Southwestern Ontario in the last 11 years. In 2011, she began to branch her business into commercial and corporate photography, creating imagery for promotional and marketing purposes, as well as executive and professional profile portraits. Hilary has quickly become known in the thriving local business community as the first choice for both natural light and studio light photography. Alongside her corporate work, she has also created a strong portfolio of actors, singers, speakers, and other arts and entertainment professionals, who are drawn to her dramatic lighting and creative composition. In 2018 she was awarded the K-W Oktoberfest Rogers Woman of the Year in Arts & Culture. Hilary loves living in the dynamic community of Waterloo Region and is proud to share her passion for entrepreneurship, volunteerism and community involvement

In this episode, we discuss:

  1. Embracing all of our traumas and difficult experiences we have had in our lives and learning how to use them to become more enlightened human beings.
  2. When we do the internal work on ourselves and commit to the process of learning and loving ourselves, we can truly step into our gifts to create an impact in the world that we are capable of creating.
  3. How society can lean into this pause and experience of covid19, and how can we come out of this time as stronger leaders and humans.
  4. When your work is tied to your purpose, you are standing in your gifts and that is when you can make the biggest impact in the world.
  5. Everything happens for a reason. We aren’t necessarily supposed to understand or make sense of the reason, yet there is always something we can make of our challenges and our story.
  6. Hilary recently created an Instagram page called, My Four Walls and it is a global diary on thoughts and spaces during isolation in the 2020 pandemic. Found on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/my.four.walls and she will be on City tv on April 7th at
