God 509 – How We Got The Bible 2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” All scripture is for profit; This must be something of immense value. We want to profit from the “all scripture.” “given by inspiration of God” is one word in Greek: Theopneustos – Theo, meaning God, and Pneustos, meaning breathed, or God Breathed—a figure of speech. John 4:24 “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” God is Spirit. 2...

God 508 – The Reverence of God This is a reposting of The class on How to Read the Bible for Understanding and Power The opening of the Class Part Two, The Reverence of God We need the Scriptures to know God and His Son, Jesus Christ. We also want to learn and have respect for God, His Word, and His Son, Jesus Christ. Proverbs 1:7: Two types of fear – one is afraid, the other is reverence, awe, and respect of the Lord. Proverbs 2:1-6: We can find God's knowledge with prayer and the Bible. Proverbs 3:13-19: Break the bondage – set at liberty – The deliverance of God Luke 4:16-21, 1 -9...

God 507 – The Greatest Work Have you ever thought about what the greatest work you can do is? What is the most crucial task that you have to do in knowing God's will, which is the greatest work you can do? It is to study and search the scriptures to see what they say, then you can live that way Matthew 22:29 “Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.” We need to know what the Scriptures say and know the power of God to live extraordinary lives today. John 10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I...

God 506 - Trust God and Believe 3 John:2 “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:” Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Luke 4:1 – 11 “And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in...

God 505 – Thinking and The Renewed Mind, You Renew Your Mind In this session of the series on Thinking and the Renewed Mind, we will examine this as an appendix or a wrapping up of loose ends, with the emphasis now being on 'You Renew Your Mind.' 2 Corinthians 10:1 “Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:” Paul is saying here plainly that whether I am meek, bass, or if I am bold, it's all to help you. You'll see this as the context as we read this together. 2 Corinthians 10:2 “But I...

God 504 – Thinking and The Renewed Mind, Keeping your Mind on God's Word The start and the Finish of the renewed mind is to watch what you're thinking. To develop good habits by continually thinking about them from The Word. Eliminate negative and unproductive habits, and reconsider your perspective on the concepts and precepts of God's Word. A simple way to do this is to establish a daily regimen of reading God's Word and praying for the things you would like to see happen in your life and in the lives of others. I want to point out some keys, but it goes without saying that there are many...

God 503 – Thinking and The Renewed Mind, Seeking His Righteousness God is the prime mover. Not you or me. We do not need to take on all the problems of the world. We do pray and read The Word asking God for help and keeping our minds thinking right. God does want us to believe, and He will do the fighting for us. We have an adversary, and we need to be aware without giving him too much credit. There are two kingdoms. Life and death are involved in them. Both physical and spiritual. God does the real work. Our fighting is done in our brains, in our minds, in our thinking. What do you think?...

God 502 – Conscience and The Renewed, The Hope Hebrews 10:22 – 25 “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Sin consciousness needs to be...

God 501 – Conscience and The Renewed, Hebrews Hebrews 13:18 “Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.” This is the last usage of the word conscience in the book of Hebrews. It is a good target for us to get to. We're willing to be honest. A person with an honest conscience. The worst that he could do is an honest mistake, not one of intent, to harm anyone. You cannot control people who understand righteousness. That is what religion does. Politics is also a religion. Both religion and politics are all about guilt and blame. God and His...

God 500 – Conscience and The Renewed Mind, Part 2 Conscience is your mental awareness because of your previous learning, thinking, and experience. Because of the love of God that's in our hearts, we can now help others by sharing The Word of God with them. Everything starts with what you're thinking. What are you thinking about now? If you line your thinking up with The Word of God, you can watch what you think, speak, and do. 2 Corinthians 4:1 & 2 “Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not...
info_outline239 – Staying Spiritual Connected
Notes by Steve Jaynes
God bless you all in the mighty and Powerful name of Our Risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May God bless you all abundantly. The following are the notes from the latest podcast show “Staying Spiritual Connected”. I have all the scriptures written out so it will be easy for you to follow along. Give a listen.
In last week's show, I did a little analogy on the electric grid and how to get the supply from the electric company we needed to be connected. With a generator, we could be self-sufficient. In this week's show, I go a little further with the analogy by talking about the price being paid by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. When we stay connected we glorified God. We glorify God by staying spiritually connected.
1 Corinthians 6:20 “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”
John 15:5 “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."
We need to stay connected to Jesus Christ. Because without him we can do nothing. In life, things get tough sometimes. Opportunities and problems come our way. We need to get and keep closer to God. By getting closer to God by prayer, fasting, and looking at God's Word we have a closer connection. We can be more than conquerors as we stay close to God and his Son Jesus Christ who is the head.
Galatians 3:1 “O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? 2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? 4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. 5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?”
To be more perfect in the flash is by using our own efforts, our own abilities. We think we have what we need instead of relying on God and his Son.
The phrase “by hearing of faith” can be use and is used in two ways. In verse 2 it's past tense. We heard Romans 10:9 & 10. Believed it. We got born again and received the holy spirit. In verse five it is in a present tense ministering. Something is being supplied by spirit.
Colossians 2:19 “And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered [Supplies], and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.”
Nourishment being supplied.
Ephesians 4:16 “From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
Nourishment being supplied.
Philippians 1:19 “For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,”
It's a supply of the spirit of Jesus Christ. It's not being supplied of the new birth spirit. It's being filled with power from on high supplied by Jesus Christ. It's an operation of service to others that is supplied to us by Jesus Christ.
Looking back to Galatians 3:5. To be performing a miracle has to be done by men of spirit. It happens as they, or you act. It happens because men of spirit see the need, want to get involved, and start to act relying on God to help them in whatever is needed. Even if it's a miracle or any of the other nine manifestations and/or ministries of service to others.
Acts 19:11 “And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:”
Who did the Miracles, God, by the hands of Paul as he did the action? That's how all manifestations work. When you speak in tongues you start to move your lips, you start to speak, and God has the words for you. You do it together.
John 5:17 “But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.”
Jesus Christ is working right along with God. Today you, work right alongside Jesus Christ and God. All three of us work together.
John 14:10 “Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. 12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”
In reading many of the records in the Old Testament you can see that many of the great believers from the Old Testament we're miracle workers. They saw needs. They got involved. They pray. They fasted. They relied on God to deliver them. They did miraculous things. Men you can read about like, Jonathan and his armor-bearer, David, Esther and Mordecai, Elijah, Elijah, and many more. You see the pattern as you read. You can see that they got involved, they acted, and miracles followed them. We can do the same works and greater because we believe in the name of Jesus Christ.
Looking at Galatians 3: 2 & 5, We act, God energizes.
Sometimes believers turn to the flash and stop being connected to the source. One thing that stops the man of power is focusing on the law or his own resources, his own abilities, and talents. I have been like that many times and I've seen the folly of relying on my own abilities. But we can change your mind at any point and get closer to God. That's great news.
Galatians 5:4 “Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.”
When you try to live by your own religious rules, or your projects, your ideas, you, you, you, you have fallen from grace. You become powerless. You become five senses people relying on just the facts.
How to Stay connected?
Speaking tongues much, manifest much, serve others much. That's how to stay connected.
1 Corinthians 14:1 – 4, & 12 “Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. 2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. 3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. 4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. 5 I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. 12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.”
You want to learn how to be the best at edifying, exhorting, and comforting others. You can do that at your fellowship by being ready to serve and manifest.
1 Corinthians 12:27 – 31 “Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. 28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? 30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? 31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.”
Look at all the ways that you can serve in the body of Christ being a member in particular. We do it all with love. Every believer has the ability to do the works that Jesus Christ did and greater.
This next section of God's Word that we're going to read together is like a little capsule of everything that I have been teaching.
Philippians 3:4 – 8 “Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: 5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; 6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. 7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,”
We win with Christ the head of the church, the body of Christ.
Philippians 3:9 – 15 “And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: 10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; 11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. 12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.”
May you draw closer to God and his son Jesus Christ. May you have that good connection to the source.
May the source be with you.
Until the next time we get together, may God bless you abundantly.
