This week's podcast is “Paul on His Way to Jerusalem.” Acts 19:21 & 22 “ After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome. 22 So he sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timotheus and Erastus; but he himself stayed in Asia for a season.” Paul purposed in his soul life, in his thinking, in his mind. Not by the Spirit, which we will...

And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He...

We need and have the grace of God in our lives. We know that others who are born again have the grace of God in their lives. We need to think of it that way. We all live in Grace. Acts 14:26 – 28 “And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled. 27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done...

God 513 – When did the Shepherds and the Wise Men Meet? God is perfect. Jesus Christ is perfect. So God's Word must be perfect. God cannot contradict himself. When reading the Bible, we need to use all the keys required to let the word of God interpret itself. We need to be like detectives following the clues. Two things, amongst others, that I watch for are tradition versus truth, and I never trust pictures. We need to look at the words closely. The Birth of Jesus Luke 2:1 – 21 “And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world...

We're going to look at the first 17 years of Paul's life, after his conversion on the road to Damascus. Acts 9:22 – 31 “But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ. 23 And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him: 24 But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him. 25...

God 511 – Paul's Prize in Literature How do we know anything about the Apostle Paul? It's through the God-breathed Scriptures—the Believer's Prize in Literature. The Church Epistles are the most fantastic literature ever written because they teach all the truth we need to live more abundantly, be successful, and experience personal victories. KJV Romans 1:1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, 2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) 3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed...

God 510 – Paul of The Bible This is the start of a series I'm doing on Paul of the Bible. The second most important person written about in the Bible is the Apostle Paul. Second only to Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son. Like any historical figure, he has different parts of his life. He had an early influence, learning and changing throughout his life. We are going to look at Paul's life in the Bible. The Bible is the only accurate recording of Paul's life. In Acts, Chapters 6 and 7, Stephen delivers a comprehensive Old Testament history lesson. It ends up in Chapter 7:51-60. Acts 7:51...

God 509 – How We Got The Bible 2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” All scripture is for profit; This must be something of immense value. We want to profit from the “all scripture.” “given by inspiration of God” is one word in Greek: Theopneustos – Theo, meaning God, and Pneustos, meaning breathed, or God Breathed—a figure of speech.  John 4:24 “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” God is Spirit. 2...

241 – The Glory of God

Notes by Steve Jaynes

God bless you all in the mighty and Powerful name of our risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May God bless you all abundantly. The following are the notes from the latest podcast show “The Glory of God”. I have all the scriptures written out so it will be easy for you to follow along. Give a listen. Click on the title to hear the show.

In this podcast show, we're going to look at some of the aspects of the glory of God. Moses wanted to know and see the glory of God so Moses asks God if he could see the glory of God.

Exodus 33:18 – 23 “And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. 19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. 20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. 21 And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: 22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: 23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.”

Bullinger defines the word glory as heavy or weighty. I always thought of it as the credit or who gets the credit.

Exodus 34:29 – 35 “And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him. 30 And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him. 31 And Moses called unto them; and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned unto him: and Moses talked with them. 32 And afterward all the children of Israel came nigh: and he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken with him in mount Sinai. 33 And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a vail on his face. 34 But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with him, he took the vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded. 35 And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him.”

The children of Israel could not stand to see the glory of God. Today the glory of God is available to us. But only to the point of how much we can stand ourselves. We can continue to grow to see more of the glory of God.

Exodus 33:11a And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend.”

Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”

Today we have the glory of God in the church by Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”

Today we let God be glorified through Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:17 – 31 “For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. 18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.”

It says that if we are to glory we should glory in the Lord.

1 Corinthians 2:9 – 16 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.”

We let the mind of Christ living us. The Christ in us by the spirit and the knowledge of God.

2 Corinthians 2:14a “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ,”

2 Corinthians 2:16b “And who is sufficient for these things?”

The question of who is sufficient for these things is answered in chapters 3 and the following. Let's read some of it.

2 Corinthians 3:4 – 18 “ And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: 5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; 6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. 7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: 8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? 9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. 10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. 11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. 12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: 13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: 14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. 15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. 16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. 17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

2 Corinthians 4:7 “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”

Until the next time we get together, may God bless you abundantly.
