Mass is the amount of internal strife or misalignment or lack of alignment in the business, meaning the more internal strife, the more in fighting, the less alignment it will create more weight or more mass and won’t allow for as much energy to go outward because if you have a lot of mass that means there’s a lot of internal energy and you want to minimize the internal energy so you can give the most...

Hi everyone, Carl Gould here with your #70secondCEO. Just a little over a one minute investment every day for a lifetime of results.

I think what Walmart and Target very specifically did well, was they expanded in two specific areas, the first area they expanded was their online shopping experience and the second thing they did was same day pick up and curbside pick up at their stores, those were two very good pivots for those retailers. So, the experience at Target and at Walmart are still good there, still positive. Walmart you can go there you can get anything and you can save money doing it. Target similar there’s slightly more upscale versions so they appeal to a certain segment, so that is very refreshing. They have done a good job of responding to what their customers want. Now if Walmart is trying to become another Amazon and I think that’s a smart play for them because they have the ability to do that, Target won’t get there but what they can do is they can win on service. So, if their curbside pick up, same day delivery Target has done a good job of figuring out the last mile, right. The last mile of delivery something Amazon still struggles with, Walmart still struggles with, Target has done a good job. If they continue along that path and can keep the convenience side high, the high touch side well, they’ll emerge very profitably from the pandemic.
