info_outlineJason Brauner, Co-Founder of Buzzard’s Roost Sippin’ Whiskey rejoins the Bourbon Lens to talk about some of their latest releases. This includes one of the more unique finished whiskies we’ve tried this year, Cigar Rye. As you’ll hear, they take their process seriously and believe that's what makes their bourbon and rye truly spectacular. Buzzard's Roost uses only brand new, 53-gallon white oak barrels that are carefully toasted and very lightly charred. Each barrel is designed from the ground up to deliver a specific flavor profile.
They work closely with their cooperage to tweak every parameter of the barrel - from the seasoning to the charring to the development of custom toast profiles. All the barrels are unique and proprietary to the company, giving Buzzard’s Roost a truly one-of-a kind flavor. After resting only a few weeks in the new barrels, the whiskey is purposefully transformed and ready for bottling.
