In addition, that episode featured another drop-in from comedian with a selection from his "Slices" blog, and that one was called “The Thai That Unbinds”. It was a fun episode, and...

Saluton estas mi, , welcoming you to Succotash Episode #347. I will be your host for the duration of this episode as it is my turn to do so. Last week in Epi346, subtitled "Clips Like a Lion", show creator and executive producer of Succotash  brought you a clips episode plus a little something extra. The clips featured in that episode were from the Soundcasts known as Dear Chelsea, The JTrain Podcast, and Two Vegan Idiots. The aformentioned extra took the form of a contribution from comedian "Slices" blog, called "Rebel Without A Phone". It was an entertaining episode that, if you were...

More Episodes

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, one of two rotating hosts of this soundcast called Succotash that numbers 333. Your other host is Marc Hershon who created this show more than 11 years ago to bring you a variety of clips from soundcasts from all around the internet as well as the occasional interview.

Shows 331 and 332 were "Second Helping" episodes that we dug out from the archive to give you, the audience, another chance to listen to them. Episode 331 contained my interview with J. Elvis Weinstein from episode 292. Episode 332 contained one of Marc's chats with Mike Birbiglia from episode 217. You can check out either of those episodes and a metric butt-ton more in the show archive at www.succotashshow.com.

The show you are listening to this time around is a new episode with fresh content from the soundcasts known as Tough Drafts, The Crazy Life, and Barnes, Brenner, and Fitzgerald. Also included in this program is a preview clip from a forthcoming episode of The Bitter Sound from podcaster extraordinare and friend of Succotash, Davian Dent.

Here's the rundown on the clips this week - enjoy the listen!

CLIPS

Tough Drafts
Simple premise: Screenwriting gurus Steve Clark, Andrew Heder, Kody Schmidt, and Peterson Peters giving tough notes on first drafts of scripts. Our clip is from the episode from November 30th, 2022, entitled "The Casting Assistant", with special guests Jeremy Culhane & Angela Giarratana from Artists on Artists on Artists on Artists!

The Crazy Life
The Crazy Life soundcast was founded by Gen and Bryan in 2015 to shine a light on the funny side of mental illness. The show features those two and Henno, who pull aside the shame curtain that surrounds mental health. Our featured clip is from the episode from November 19, 2022, entitled "Masking", with Gen and Bryan talk about spending time with yourself, being truthful to yourself by learning new terms for something, then they talk about the topic of masking, and more! (Here's a link to the article by Kimberly Drake referenced on the show: https://psychcentral.com/autism/autism-masking-why)

Barnes, Brenner, and Fitzgerald
Exclusively on Spotify, iHeart Radio & Anchor.fm, BB&F feature three comics — Joshua Barnes, Lauren Brenner, and Eric Fitzgerald — talking shit about life and various other topics. Our clip was harvested from their second episode that dropped October 20th, 2022, entitled "Space, Where Billionaires Go to Die", in which is discussed (as the episode description indicates) The River in Humboldt, Space, and Billionaires abandoning up for the stars.

The Bitter Sound
In place of our usual phony ad from fake sponsor Henderson's Pants, we have a clip from what I'm told is a future episode of The Bitter Sound", created by friend-of-Succotash Davian Dent. Its description says that it is "A stereophonic journey into a world of dark comedy, music and strange audio."

And hey, just when it is feeling good to be back another show comes to a close. Isn't that the way of things? I do hope you found something of interest in the offerings placed before your hungry-hungry earholes. I listen to a LOT of podcasts, and every time I say that it is even more true. I'm almost certain that I will not be able to hear everyone's podcast at least once before I die due to time and life constraints but I am ok with that…I still listen to a LOT of podcasts…and I usually refer to them as "soundcasts" within the confines of this show as well as when I explain what the show is to other people.

It doesn't come up that often. It's usually related to the "So, what do you do?" part of a getting-to-know-someone conversation, and I don't really have those all that often. I suspect as the world opens up more I will get that opportunity so I guess it is good to practice.

Thank you for listening, be decent to each other, tune in next time for Epi334 hosted by Marc Hershon and, if someone asks you if you heard anything good or interesting lately (and we have something to do with your answer), won't you please pass the Succotash?

— Tyson Saner
