info_outlineToday’s destination: Sioux City, Iowa
it’s different than Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I visited both of them on the same trip.
I left Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and drove to Sioux City, Iowa, to discover what to explore there.
What did I find? It’s a town of about 85,000 people and a lovely part of mid-America. I felt tradition and a sense of peace and loving people here.
I stayed in an Airbnb with a single, lonely woman in her late 70s. She had lovely plants, a backyard garden, and tips on what to do in town while exploring. I spent hours walking around the town and soaking up the beauty.
What’s different?
Sioux City is in northwest Iowa. The Sioux City Art Center showcases work by artists from the Upper Midwest. Nearby, Sioux City Public Museum has local history displays, including a hands-on replica of a fossil dig site. Play-based educational exhibits are the draw at the LaunchPAD Children's Museum. Set inside a dry-docked towboat, the Sergeant Floyd River Museum outlines the shipping history of the Missouri River.
It’s a slow-paced and friendly town, with traditions and happy people. This will be a good spot if you’re looking for a slice of Americana.
Today’s Mistake- My friend’s mistake was Renting a camel in Egypt.
My friend was enjoying the adventure of riding a camel. She was all alone and enjoying it.
And then, she couldn’t get down from the camel unless she paid a guy named Sal.
She was trapped.
The lesson learned is to Find a reliable person.
You can use websites with published prices and keep them. Don’t use Sal for your camel rental.
Today’s Travel Advice-Give, a back massage, get a back massage.
When solo, it’s hard to make sore muscles feel good.
Here’s a piece of advice. When you travel, try to relax your neck and shoulder muscles. Stand straight. Don’t hunch.
And when you want a minute-long clothes-on-back massage, find someone you trust, ask them if they want one, and then give it to them. Then ask them to do the same to you. If they say No, ask someone else. See what happens to your attitude, as this can quickly change your stress level down a few notches.
