Own Your Choices Own Your Life
In this episode, I am sharing the process of embracing big visions and the fears that often accompany them. I start by sharing a personal anecdote from 2016 when I first received the idea to write my solo book. The initial excitement was quickly overshadowed by fear and skepticism from those around me, which led me to caution against sharing my ideas too freely. I reflect on my experience with launching my NLP coaching certification, Outspoken, where I had to build everything from scratch without any proof of concept. A mentor pointed out the difference between that experience and my current...

In this episode, I address a common question: how do we shift our thinking? I emphasize that while the concept may be simple, the execution is often challenging. I share my personal experience of being in a crisis and how it forced me to reevaluate my choices and control over my life. I encourage listeners to consider how they want to show up in their lives, especially as we approach the end of the year. I discuss the importance of setting realistic goals and focusing on what we want rather than what we don’t want. Many people struggle to articulate their desires, often fixating on their...

In this episode, I want to reflect on the core message that has been a guiding principle throughout my life and this podcast: you always have a choice. In this episode, we are on the brink of a significant milestone—episode 900! As I prepare to share more of my journey in the upcoming episode, I want to dive deep into a topic that I believe is crucial for anyone looking to make an impact, whether through writing, coaching, speaking, or any other form of expression. Today, I discuss the importance of sharing your story and how it connects to building genuine relationships with others. Many people underestimate the power of their narrative, thinking that strategy alone will lead to success. Strategy is only 5% of the equation; the remaining...

In this episode, I discuss the everyday struggles many authors face, such as fear of judgment from family and friends, and the realization that we cannot control how others perceive our words. Our internal representation of the world shapes our responses, and I share personal anecdotes to illustrate how our states can influence our reactions to others. Instead of focusing on the strategy first, it is essential to get into the right state of mind, energy, and nervous system regulation before writing. Our subconscious mind, which governs 95% of our actions, responds to feelings of safety rather...

In this episode, I explore the concept of being unbothered vs feeling numb. Being unbothered involves feeling emotions without being controlled by them. I recount my journey over the past couple of years, particularly the challenges I've faced, including navigating past stories of teen substance abuse and personal turmoil. Through these experiences, I have learned to strengthen my boundaries and prioritize self-care, allowing me to listen to my needs rather than numb them. I pose the question: Are you numb or unbothered? I explain the characteristics of both states, highlighting that numbness...

In this episode, we are sharing the theme of fire, as a metaphor for personal transformation and as a reflection of my own experiences. This quote summarizes it all: “The fire burned brighter inside of me than around me," by Joshua Graham. What would change if you could learn to embrace the fire as a transformative force rather than a destructive one? I encourage everyone to reflect on what they are carrying that is no longer theirs to bear and to allow the fire to burn away those burdens. By doing so, we can ignite our inner fire, leading to a stronger, more authentic self. ...
info_outlineIn this episode, we speak with CEO, Founder, and Master Instructor, Dave Albin. Dave was born in 1954 at Queen of Angles Hospital in Hollywood, California to a single mother. He was adopted by his Aunt and uncle on his mother’s side at the age of 5. His adoptive parents told Dave they were not his parents at 11 years old. Later that year both his adoptive parents started drinking. This is where Dave’s life took a hard turn. Dave tried alcohol at the age of 12. By the time he was 14, he was experimenting with hard drugs. Grossly addicted to drugs and alcohol he joined AA some 20 years later in June 1988. This is when Dave was introduced to the personal development industry. He attended a seminar with Tony Robbins in 1995 where he did his first firewalk. Dave went on to work for Tony Robbins for just shy of 20 years as Tony’s Firewalk Captain. Dave retired from the Anthony Robbins Companies in 2014 shortly after GOOGLE hired him to put on an event for them in Mountain View, California Corp Headquarters. Firewalk Productions, LLC was born in 2014.
Dave has done gigs for NASA, Heineken, The Entrepreneurs Organization (EO), RE Max, Chick-fil-A, Pruvit, Google, NI, NC Chiropractic Association, Wayne Dyer, T Harv Eker, CRISP Video, Tony Robbins and many others. Dave currently lives in the Appalachian Mountains in Ashe County North Carolina.
In this episode, we discuss:
1) Dave’s experience with Firewalking, how it changed his life, and how it led him to work with Tony Robbins for over 2 decades and then to run his own Firewalk Adventures for business owners, executives, and entrepreneurs.
2) Dave openly shares his back story, the years of addiction, his sobriety journey, and how he has conditioned himself to focus and live in gratitude. Fear and gratitude cannot occupy the same space and learning to see the story differently is how you change the story.
