I am not a professional preacher or pastor or minister, I'm basically a guy who loves the radio. I also love Jesus and I want to help spread God's wisdom and to tell the Jesus story. And I kind of admire the man who shares my name. So as a former school teacher as well as a broadcaster forever, could I share about 25 minutes of thoughts and reflections and may be a little bit of a radio ramble about some things I read about and heard about Stanley Jones that I think everybody should hear especially my friends who are pastors and ministers in the church today. We continue to seek the Lord's direction in guidance as to what the Stanley Jones radio school should be doing and what we should be about. Today I am thinking of a number of situations in my own family group where grace and healing are necessary and needed in many ways. And then in my reading of the book by our dear friend and teacher Roberto Escamilla I came to the chapter which helped to summarize a very vital lesson. I would like to share some of Roberto's wisdom, as he is one of the true followers and encore leaders in our desire to know more about J esus and the stories of transformation...

Thank you for your 15 minutes today and in my many years in broadcasting and in business performance coaching I've often taken a very different view of how things get started and how they matter. Just recently I was challenged about the validity of a project and I reminded them of a very powerful principle that most people in life don't remember or forget. Pontius Pilate reminded us that Jesus was the man. Just one man.! Please let the truth of that sit on your head for a while and take time to listen to my story. It may even help you to live differentl/ more fully alive, starting now. And...

Obviously March 17 is usually thought of as a day of frolicking fun and usually too much high spirits and drinking as people celebrate the fact that they are of Irish or Irish descent or at least as everybody says Irish for a day. But of course many of you know and suspect that there's more to the story than that and the story continues to this very day. So would you please give me about 15 minutes to put some things together about the new school that we're starting, the story of Stanley Jones and of course of that famous Irish Saint.   ... My Sunday Night Meeting with Stanley Jones
A Personal Reflection from the Stanley Jones Radio School for Fully Alive Living
By Stan Hustad

Can I tell you the story of my Sunday night meeting—and how Stanley Jones came to help me?

Welcome, friends, to another broadcast from Wit Radio Company and the ongoing adventure we call the Stanley Jones Radio School for Fully Alive Living. I’m your host, Stan Hustad, and once again, I’m inviting you into a journey—one of power, poise, and spiritual purpose.

This week’s reflection is both deeply personal and profoundly practical. I want to share how a long-standing practice in my own life, something I call the Sunday Night Meeting, recently took on new power when I invited the spirit and wisdom of Stanley Jones into the room.

The Sunday Night Meeting: A Rhythm for Renewal

Years ago, I developed a personal discipline I now teach others: taking time every Sunday night to meet with myself, the Spirit, and my weekly schedule. It’s a quiet ritual—some music, maybe a candle, prayer, and planning. I ask: What’s ahead? What matters most? What challenges and opportunities should I prepare for?

This moment of rest and reflection is rooted in the ancient idea of the Sabbath. I work hard during the week, handle chores on Saturday, and then shut things down by Saturday afternoon. I rest, worship, read, think, and reset. Then, on Sunday night, I reconnect—with God, my calling, and myself.

But this week, something new happened.

Inviting Stanley Jones to the Meeting

I asked myself: What if Stanley Jones could join me at my Sunday night meeting? No, I didn’t summon his ghost. I simply opened one of his books.

In fact, I revisited Week 15 of The Way to Power and Poise, a book that has long inspired me. In this updated edition, beautifully produced by Anne Matthews Eunice, the E. Stanley Jones Foundation, and Shivraj, I found just the insight I needed.

Jones reminds us that God doesn’t just clean up our behavior—He transforms our whole selves, even the hidden parts of our subconscious we aren’t fully aware of. That struck home, especially after my wife gently reminded me that I needed to smile more during the “passing of the peace” at church. Apparently, I was looking a little too serious. A small moment, but a big reminder: surrender everything. Even the parts we don’t realize need refining.

Stories of Transformation, Not Just Theology

This is what I love about Stanley Jones. He didn’t offer abstract theology. He told stories of transformation. He wasn’t a theologian; he was a teacher, a preacher, an evangelist—a go-getter for the Kingdom of God. And his message was simple and powerful: In Jesus, you can become fully alive.

Whether through The Christ of the Indian Road, A Heart of Wisdom (the powerful diary of his wife Mabel Lawson Jones), or The Transformed Life, Stanley offers more than spiritual theory—he offers a way of life that is disciplined, joyful, and grounded.

These stories have become part of my own rhythm. They guide my Sunday nights. They inform my weeks. They whisper truths that stick with me, like this one: Power is not dominance. It’s quiet strength. And poise is not pride. It’s grace under pressure.

Takeaways to Remember

As you reflect on this episode, here are a few practical takeaways to carry with you:

  • Start your own Sunday night meeting. Take time to pray, plan, and reflect before the week begins.
  • Read Stanley Jones. Start with The Christ of the Indian Road or The Way to Power and Poise. Let his words mentor you.
  • Remember: Transformation is the goal. Don’t just clean up your act—invite God to change your inner life.
  • Live fully alive. That’s the mission of this school and the message of Stanley Jones. In Christ, we can be radiant with life.

Closing Thoughts: Be Inspired, Take Action

Friends, the world doesn’t need more religious talk. It needs more fully alive people—humble, strong, spiritually grounded individuals who live with intention and grace.

Stanley Jones can help you become that person. I invite you to learn from him, like I do. Read his work. Join us in the school. Start your own spiritual rhythms. Share your wisdom with others.

And maybe—just maybe—you’ll hear someone say about you someday: He was fully alive. She was radiant with grace. They made life richer, better—for themselves and for others.

That’s the kind of legacy I want to leave. And I believe, with God’s help, and the example of Stanley Jones, we all can.

Until next time, I’m Stan the Radio Man, signing off from the Stanley Jones School for Fully Alive Living.

Be blessed—and be a blessing.
