Own Your Choices Own Your Life

Today, I am speaking with Podcast Host, Travis Robinson.  Travis’ life might seem defined by obstacles. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s, he’s faced relentless challenges—some expected, like mobility struggles, and others completely unforeseen, like losing his home and all of his photography gear in the Eaton fire. But rather than letting these hardships define him, Travis has built a life that proves limitations are meant to be challenged. Highlights: 00:01:00 - Travis's Diagnosis 00:02:30 - The Growing Concern of Parkinson's 00:04:30 - Facing the Diagnosis 00:06:30 - Starting the...

869 |  The Reason You’re Not Writing Your Book Yet show art 869 |  The Reason You’re Not Writing Your Book Yet

Own Your Choices Own Your Life

In this episode, I want to share the journey of writing a book. It's a dream for many, with 81% of people expressing a desire to write a book, yet fewer than 1% actually follow through and publish one. I want to challenge you to consider whether you want to be part of the 99% who never take that leap or join the less than 1% who do. Throughout the episode, I explore the common fears and beliefs that hold aspiring authors back. Many struggle with feelings of inadequacy, fearing that their stories aren't significant enough or that they might hurt others. I emphasize that these fears often stem...

Own Your Choices Own Your Life

In this episode, I am sharing the concept of alignment and how it can sometimes feel boring or uncomfortable, especially if you're used to living in chaos. We are conditioned to gravitate towards what feels familiar, even if it’s not what we truly want. Our subconscious minds often choose chaos over peace because it’s what we know. I emphasize that if you find yourself repeatedly returning to unhealthy relationships or stressful situations, it’s likely because they feel normal to you. Imagine what it would feel like to train and reprogram your subconscious mind to become familiar with...

Own Your Choices Own Your Life

In this episode, I am sharing my take on the concept of "Let Them," inspired by Mel Robbins' teachings. I share my own journey and the lessons I've learned about control, choice, and the importance of allowing others to navigate their paths. I begin by reflecting on my experience attending a Mel Robbins event, where her powerful message resonated with me, despite my initial discomfort. I discuss how the idea of "Let Them" felt foreign to me as a parent who has faced the challenges of teen substance abuse. For me, the concept was not just about relinquishing control over trivial matters like...

865 |  Reclaiming Your Power: The Metaphor of the Plug and the Wall show art 865 |  Reclaiming Your Power: The Metaphor of the Plug and the Wall

Own Your Choices Own Your Life

In this episode, I share the power of metaphors and how they can help us understand our subconscious mind. I share a compelling metaphor involving two electrical outlets, one representing our past and the other our future. On the left side, we have the "old plug," connected to our daily thoughts, old patterns, and negative beliefs—essentially everything that has shaped who we are up to this point. This side is familiar and feels safe, but it often keeps us in a negative cycle. On the right side, we have the "new plug," which symbolizes our future potential, aspirations, and the identity we...

863 | You Don’t Chase the Vision — You Become It First show art 863 | You Don’t Chase the Vision — You Become It First

Own Your Choices Own Your Life

In this episode, I share the concept of becoming the version of ourselves that can hold our dreams before we chase them. Our nervous systems must feel safe and regulated to pursue our goals effectively. If we rush into chasing what we want without first anchoring into our identity, we risk operating from a place of lack rather than power. I share my journey of deciding to publish "Unreserved," highlighting the month I took to reflect on whether I was ready for such a significant commitment. This pause allowed me to assess my beliefs, emotional state, and the blocks that could hinder my ability...

Own Your Choices Own Your Life

In this episode, I share the journey of identity work and the ongoing process of breaking down limiting beliefs. After the exhilarating experience of the unreserved book launch party, which involved coordinating with 24 different authors and connecting with women from around the globe, I reflect on the personal growth from such expansive experiences. I emphasize that identity work is not a one-time breakthrough but rather a continuous process of chipping away at the concrete walls of limiting beliefs we have built over the years, if not decades. I share a powerful metaphor: just as you cannot...

More Episodes

In this episode, I share thoughts on perception and how our brains filter the overwhelming amount of information we encounter daily. I start by expressing my gratitude to listeners for their support and shares, emphasizing the importance of being open to new perspectives and solutions that may be hidden from our view.

I introduce the idea that we are not seeing reality as it truly is; instead, we only perceive what we are programmed to look for. With our brains processing 11 million bits of information every second, our conscious minds can only handle about 40 to 50 bits at a time. This means that what we consciously perceive is merely a fraction—0.0004%—of the reality around us. I explain how our brains delete, distort, and generalize information based on our beliefs and focus, which can significantly limit our understanding of the wrld.
