The One Thing That's Needful
In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches-Dunham concludes the series “Selfishness is a Setup” by teaching that love is meant to give, even in hard seasons. Drawing from John 3:16, she emphasizes that God’s love is active, generous, and self-sacrificing, and that believers are called to reflect that same unselfishness in their lives. The heart of the message is the life of Joseph, whose story becomes a powerful picture of Christ and a testimony of what it looks like to keep sowing good in the middle of betrayal, injustice, and suffering. Though...

In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches-Dunham continues her series, “Selfishness Is a Setup,” with a strong reminder that love is unselfish and that God designed reaping and sowing as a spiritual law. The message centers on the idea that selfishness keeps believers stuck in their own pain, while love moves outward in faith and trust in God’s provision. Using the Book of Ruth, she shows how Elimelek’s decision to flee Bethlehem in fear led to loss, while Ruth chose loyalty, sacrifice, and generosity even after deep personal grief. Ruth’s...

In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches-Dunnom continues her teaching on why selfishness is a trap that keeps believers from walking in the fullness of God’s design. She emphasizes that love is not selfish but gives, and that Christians are called to reflect Christ by serving others, sowing seeds, and trusting God to multiply what is given. The message is rooted in the truth that what we do for others is never wasted, because in God’s kingdom generosity always comes back in greater measure. To illustrate that principle, she revisits the story of...

The teaching follows the story of Queen Esther, highlighting how God placed Esther strategically as queen after a season of loss and obscurity. Through Esther and Mordecai, the episode shows how God was...

In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Sivan Funches-Dunham continues the series “Selfishness Is A Setup,” teaching that love gives, and selfishness keeps people trapped in a spiritually empty, “Dead Sea” mindset. She presents selfishness as a trap that turns attention inward and blocks the flow of life and blessing. Using Genesis 24, she shows how Abraham’s servant was sent to find a wife for Isaac, and how Rebekah’s quick, generous response to a stranger revealed the kind of unselfish faith God was looking for. Her kindness was not only immediate, but...

In this episode, Dr. Sivan Funches-Dunham continues the series Selfishness Is a Setup by teaching that love is meant to give, not hoard. Drawing from John 3:16 and 1 Corinthians 13, she emphasizes that God’s love is active, generous, and reflected in practical acts of service, encouragement, prayer, and presence. A major theme is the principle of reaping and sowing. Dr. Funches-Dunham explains that God designed this system so that what believers sow—whether time, prayer, care, or resources—will return to them, though not always from the same person or in the same form. She encourages...

In this episode of The One Thing That’s Needful Podcast, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches-Dunham launches a new series, “Selfishness Is a Setup,” with a message that exposes self-absorption as a spiritual trap. A major focus of the message is the correction of religious thinking about money and provision. Dr. Funches-Dunham makes the...
info_outlineIn this episode, I continue our powerful series titled "God Has Not Changed His Mind." We go deeper into Numbers 23:19, a foundational verse that reminds us that God is not a man that He should lie, nor the son of man that He should change His mind. If He said it, He will do it.
I share what God first shared with me—that His promises still stand, even if it’s been a long time, even if you've faced trials, setbacks, or disappointments. Just like David on his way to the throne, we all go through seasons of waiting and warfare. But the enemy's attacks are meant to change your mind, not God's. The truth is, the devil knows he cannot stop God’s plans for your life—so he tries to wear you down and make you give up. But I’m here to remind you: God has not changed His mind.
I also encourage you to go back and listen to previous parts of this series if you haven’t already, and to take in what God is saying afresh. His Word is rich, alive, and personal for the season you’re in.
Let your heart be stirred again by the truth that God is faithful. He’s still moving. He’s still working. And His promises are still yes and amen.
