While this set covers discs 1651 to 1675 in my Classic Collection, my Fuzzy Feature is again a bit of a departure, exploring my recent local theater production of Edward Albee's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 95th episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings. While this set covers discs 1626 to 1650 in my Classic Collection, my Fuzzy Feature highlights a bit of a deep dive for this effort. From discs 1474 and 1480, I talk about "Hamlet 2" starring Steve Coogan and Catherine Keener. Hiya! I'm Terry J. Aman, host of VideoFuzzy, home for media, commentary and nostalgia. In this singularly theatrically focused installment Ep. 95: Dead for a Ducat, I leverage comments on a deep dive from my classic collection, "Hamlet 2," as a springboard to chat about other "Hamlets" I've encountered, including Bismarck's Capitol Shakespeare, Great Perfomances on PBS "Hamlet" from 2023, and insights from local actors who took on the roles of Hamlet and Ophelia so powerfully this summer, Derek Pich and Schatzy Eichmann. I'm also taking the stage myself as George in a local production of...
info_outlineHi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 40th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Familiar Arguments," Ralph and I took in a comedy show in New Town with Gabriel Iglesias, better known as Fluffy. We spent Christmas Eve driving around town looking at Christmas lights, a tradition I'm coming to enjoy.
For my Friday Night Feature, I talked about a fourth season episode of "Boston Legal" from April 2008 which explored the relative merits of then primary candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and the validity of the primary process for both parties. Also, they took on cloned beef and the FDA.
In my Classic Collection, I encounter "Mayored to the Mob" a 10th season episode of "The Simpsons" featuring Mark Hamill and which introduced the "Yes Guy." Also, some decent episodes of "Samantha Who?" "Reaper" and "MI-5," and the first season finale of Showtimes's "Dexter" as rebroadcast on CBS.
In my Current Collection, I grabbed three more season 1 episodes of "The Magicians" on SyFy -- but not before missing the first SEVEN of them [grumble, grouse]. Netflix series "BoJack Horseman" as rebroadcast on Comedy Central is darkly compelling, "A Million Little Things" is getting a little hamfisted with the drama, but "Doctor Who" had a fantastic season finale and "The Good Place," well ... that show continues to amaze.
In What I've Been Watching, Ralph and I took in "Mary Poppins Returns" and "Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse." Both are excellent, go see them and I'll just mention -- stay through the credits on Spidey; it's worth it. ;) And in that this is my 40th episode, I've included stats in Crunching Some Numbers.
Finally, this past weekend I put together the second-ever installment of "VideoFuzzy: The Video! Ep. 2: Pics, News and Weather." It includes the most complete look I've found my VHS collection as of 2007, a bit of background and what's been going on with me. Click here to check it out, and have a fantastic 2019!
