Ah, summer! The sun is shining. The marshmallows are toasting. The birds are singing. And hiking. And...having afternoon tea? Also, it's time to talk Peanuts in episode 120! info_outline 119: THE ONE WHERE WE LEARN TO HATE "PEANUTS"It's a Podcast, Charlie Brown
Episode 119 is all about mixed emotions. I mean, we've got news and feedback from in and around the Peanuts universe, which is great. And we've got a discussion of season 1, episode1 of a BRAND NEW SNOOPY SERIES! "Camp Snoopy" just debuted on Apple TV and we're talking about it. This could be good. Spending the summer with the Beagle Scouts doesn't sound so bad. But ... In this month's Random Strip of the Month, listener Lynn presents a storyline from the strip that is maybe kind of in bad taste. So do we hate Peanuts now? Okay, maybe not, but be prepared to rethink humor in comics in general...

info_outline 116: IT'S NOT ONLY A GAME - IT'S JIM SASSEVILLEIt's a Podcast, Charlie Brown
In episode 116, we take some time to look at the work of Schulz friend and fellow cartoonist Jim Sasseville. From ghosting for the Peanuts comic books to trying to launch his onw strip, where did Sasseville's style match up with Schulz and where did it diverge? Also, what's up with the nude models? (Yep. You read that correctly.) We've also got This Month in Peanuts History and a "Peanuts by Schulz" episode called "A Clean Sweep". Thanks to Sean Courtney for the "This Month in Peanuts History" theme. Thanks to Nick Jones for the use of his song "25% Off".
info_outlineGreetings, fellow blockheads! IT'S A PODCAST, CHARLIE BROWN Episode 35 is here!
Just so you're not confused, I messed with the schedule this month and not just because this episode is dropping a day late. We've still got a random strip of the month. We've still got a "Peanuts by Schulz" short (this one is called "Reach for the Stars"). We even still have episode 17 (the penultimate one!) of "The Charlie Brown & Snoopy Show".
BUT, we're shelving the planned "A Good Man, Charlie Brown" discussion until a later date. I had the unexpected good fortune of booking an interview with playwright Jack McManus about his new musical "Sparky", which debuted earlier this year in New York. The play presents significant points in Schulz's life and sounds very cool. I think you'll agree the scheduling change was well worth it.
Even we blockheads get it right once in a while.
