CULTURE & COMPLEXITY: THE CHALLENGES OF COMPLEXITY

In the first segment, Dr. Bloom and Ms. Yanosy will discuss the importance of appreciating “complexity” and how culture, in all its forms, inevitably increases the complexity of every group, organization, and community. It is the unconscious dynamics in a complex system that often confound those in a position to take action toward social health. So, in this segment the hosts will look at some of those unconscious group dynamics and offer tools for managing it. In the second and third segments, the hosts will talk with Dr. Robert Anda, who played the principal role in the design of the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study (ACEs) and served as its Co-Principal Investigator, and Dr. Laura Porter, who together have created ACE Interface bringing together over two decades of experience in helping leaders to develop and disseminate educational products and empowerment strategies that help communities throughout the nation to dramatically improve population health. In this capacity, they have become thought partners, educators, consultants, and coaches in over two dozen states and they will share their findings about this important work.
