Mike Nurse has worn many hats for the Missoula Mavericks: manager, assistant coach, board member, umpire, and even grandparent of a player. He has been involved with baseball, in some form or fashion, for seven plus decades. In this, the tenth and final episode of MavsPod season 1, Mike recounts his days as a Marine during the Vietnam War, his memories as a coach in the Mavs organization, coaching travel ball with his son Kelly, and the impactful role that baseball has played throughout  his life.

Will Thompson show art Will Thompson

The greatest hitter to ever don the Mavericks navy blue, Will Thompson had a career batting average of .474, and he still holds organizational records for most hits, RBI's, doubles, triples, runs scored, extra base hits, total bases, and slugging percentage. After a stellar collegiate career at the University of Arizona and Santa Clara University, Will went on to play four seasons of minor league baseball in the San Francisco Giants organization, reaching the AAA level. Will shares his approach to hitting, and what it means to him to be inducted in to the Missoula Mavericks Hall of Fame.

Todd Moriarty show art Todd Moriarty

A 2022 Missoula Mavericks Hall of Fame inductee, Todd Moriarty played for the Mavs in 1979 and 1980, compiling an overall record of 21-4. His 1980 earned run average was 1.18, and he was named MVP of the state tournament. After finishing his Legion career, Todd went on to pitch at Brigham Young University and Southern Utah University. In 1984, he was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 12th round, and played two seasons of minor league baseball in the Giants organization. Before Brent Hathaway took over the Mavericks AA program in 1993, the average tenure of the previous fourteen managers of the team was 1.7 years. 2022 marks his 30th year at the helm of the Mavs' top squad. Coach Hathaway discusses some of the great teams and players that have come through the program, what it means to play the game the right way, and how baseball had changed over the years. The interview closes with a discussion about high school baseball coming to Montana, and what impacts this might have upon Legion programs in the state.

Kathy Ogren has been a driving force in the Missoula baseball scene for decades, from having a son who played for the Mavericks in the 1980's, to her key support in the building of Lindborgh-Cregg Field, through the construction of Ogren Park at Allegiance Field for the city of Missoula's professional baseball team. Kathy discusses her love of baseball, the time she spent working as a microbiologist, her more than forty years in the car business as owner of Bitterroot Ford and Bitterroot Toyota, and her spirit of philanthropy.

When Bill Schwanke first got involved with Missoula American Legion baseball in the early 1970's, the team was fighting to stay afloat. Low player turnout, financial difficulties, and a dilapidated Campbell Field all contributed to the struggle. The nephew of the late Dale Dahlgren, Bill, joins the program to discuss his legendary Uncle Dale, the man responsible for turning the dream of a new American Legion baseball complex in Missoula in to reality. As part of the conversation, Bill talks about his many years working at Sun Mountain Sports in Missoula, his decades of service on the Big Sky Parks Stewardship Committee, and volunteerism in general. Cameron Reimers show art Cameron Reimers

A hard-throwing right hander, Reimers is considered to be one of the best, if not the best, pitchers in program history. Cam is the career leader in wins (40-8) and most starts (49), and his teams won state championships in 1995 and 1997. He is one of nine first ballot Maverick Hall of Famers. After a stellar collegiate career, Cam embarked on a seven year professional career in the Blue Jays organization, including three seasons at the AAA level. Cameron discusses his days in Mavericks navy blue, as well as his time playing college and professional baseball.
