In this episode, we were so delighted to get to chat with Lyndsey, a homeschooling mama of 4, from Treehouse School on the topic of homeschooling. One of things I love most about Lyndsey's approach to homeschool is her heart to make it approachable and attainable... both things we love to keep in mind when discussing topics here on the show. This episode is specifically for the mama who is considering homeschooling but is still on the fence, or the mom who recently decided to take the leap into homeschooling and is new on this journey. But even if you've been homeschooling for a...

info_outlineIn this episode we are finally diving a little deeper into the topic of homeschooling... more specifically, questions to ask yourself when considering homeschooling. I (Jen) came upon an article written by Little House Learning Co. She walked through 6 questions she felt were important to ask yourself to see if homeschooling could work for you and your family. We loved the idea of going through these questions with our own thoughts and take on it as a format for this conversation. We really enjoyed the vulnerability and perspective that came of this conversation, and we hope you'll enjoy it too!
- We'll discuss the 6 questions asked in this article on Little House Learning Co.
- The Brave Learner by Julie Bogart. This has been recommended to me about 100 times, and you'll find it on almost every single "top 10 homeschooling books" lists.
- The Call of the Wild + Free by Ainsley Arment. Another one that was so highly recommended and so beautifully written with encouragement.
- Dumbing Us Down by John Taylor Gatto (**this one may be a bit controversial, but it was recommended to me by countless people. Also, even if you don't agree with what is being said, it could at least give you a peak into a different perspective in which you can come to your own conclusion on something you may not have given thought to before!**)
- Balanced and Barefoot by Angela Hanscom (not specifically a homeschool book, but one of the books that really inspired me to want to homeschool and be in nature far more than my kids were sitting down at a desk- and just how important that is for them)
- Homeschool Bravely by Jamie Erickson
- Modern Miss Mason by Leah Boden (I haven't personally read this one yet but I have had this one recommended to me many times as well, so I'm going to put it on the list )
- Wild + Free magazine - seriously the most beautiful magazine full of inspiring and beautiful encouragement and ideas to do with your children in your homeschool. I'm not currently homeschooling but this magazine literally makes me want to be better, so I still subscribe to it.
- 1000 hours outside- not specifically a homeschooling podcast but all about preserving childhood as long as possible and how incredibly important it is for children to spend as much time outside as possible (which can be hard to do when in a school setting)
- Wild + Free
- Modern Miss Mason : I haven't listened to this one yet but just saw this one and since it was such a highly recommended book, it's definitely a podcast I'm interested in checking out.
- Read-Aloud Revival- surrounded around the topic of building a love of literature and books in children
