Rey Ibarra, born in Spain, and migrated to England at the age of nine, is indentured to A. Grubb, an unsavory solicitor. When Grubb steals his beloved Clare, Ibarra slides into dispair and drink, until he is dismissed.  

Now, a man in the throes of alcohol, Ibarra encounters the vampire, Manon, who brings him to her home.  Life opens with endless possibilities when he is made a vampire by the beautiful Manon Charisse. 

This is an unusual Vampire novel in that the main character, who begins as a bitter drunk, hateful of all humanity, is slowly transformed in his life as a vampire.  He becomes friends with Scott Fitzgerald, Ella Fitzgeral and the great swing drummer, Chick Webb. This is a tale of change, hope and redemption. 

A Vampire's Journey, is a carefully researched mixture of fantasy and 20th Century history up to the mid-forties, where each chapter interweaves fact and fiction as Ibarra unknowingly dedicates himself to searching for love.
