5 Biggest mistakes while making videos
Many businesses know that video is the most powerful medium to convey their marketing and promotions, but many businesses don’t have a team to create videos.
So the biggest mistakes while making videos in house are:
1. Prioritizing the quality of the gear
- Many businesses think they need to spend a lot of money to get good quality videos
- Cinema equipment is unnecessary
2. Thinking that good looking video is a good video
- There is a big difference between a good looking video and a great video
- $10,000 videos is not equal to great videos
3. Overthinking the content and not creating
- Many professionals think: ‘I don’t think it’s good enough’ or ‘it’s been done before’
- Many things have been done before, but you can still create something good similar to other stuff
- As for the ‘not good enough’ is subjective, put it out there and test.
4. Just creating and not optimizing
- The original content needs to be good and when optimized it can actually go viral, most of the time it won’t happen, but there’s a chance. Optimize by improving the thumbnail, headline, and description.
5. Not focusing on the story enough
- Now every creation I keep in mind what the story is, what is the goal, what are the obstacles, what is the climax/end
- If more professionals would add a story structure they would likely improve their retention, humans are lovers of stories.
- Just think cinema, novels, shows, people are enthralled with the story, the worlds, the characters. They want to see the transformation of the character, and see the resolution of the tension set up in the story
6. Not having clear and relevant brand story
- When it is not clear what your brand represents, it is going to be hard for others to promote the brand for you and refer other relevant clients to you.
- The content needs to always be relevant to the viewer, if you can do that with your brand message, it would be a a lot better for the brand.
