Let's begin with the definitions.

Ancestral sin

Doctrine

According to Wikipedia: Ancestral sin, generational sin, or ancestral fault, is the doctrine that individuals inherit the judgement for the sin of their ancestors. It exists primarily as a concept in Mediterranean religions; generational sin is referenced in the Bible in Exodus 20:5. Wikipedia

What is a Generational Curse?

According to The Gospel Coalition, a “generational curse describes the cumulative effect on a person of things that their ancestors did, believed, or practiced in the past, and a consequence of an ancestor's actions, beliefs, and sins being passed down.”Jul 21, 2020 Reference: www.thesource.org

From www.wikipedia.com: Are Generational Curses biblical?

In Christianity

The Bible speaks of generational sin in Exodus 20:5, which states that "the iniquities of the fathers are visited upon the sons and daughters — unto the third and fourth generation."[3] This concept implicates that "unresolved issues get handed down from generation to generation", but that "Jesus is the bondage breaker ... [and] He is able to break the cycle of this curse, but only if we want Him to."

Eastern Orthodoxy

Ancestral sin is the object of a Christian doctrine taught by the Orthodox Church as well as other Eastern Christians. Some identify it as "inclination towards sin, a heritage from the sin of our progenitors".[11] But most distinguish it from this tendency that remains even in baptized persons, since ancestral sin "is removed through baptism".

Roman Catholicism

With regard to breaking generational curses, clergy of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal have developed prayers for healing.[15]

The Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Greek translation of which uses "προπατορική αμαρτία" (literally, 'ancestral sin') where the Latin text has "peccatum originale", states: "Original sin is called 'sin' only in an analogical sense: it is a sin 'contracted' and not 'committed' – a state and not an act.

Judaism

The Hebrew Bible provides two passages of scripture regarding generational curses:

The Lord, the Lord, compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in loving-kindness and truth … Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.

— Exodus 34:7

Parents are not to be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their parents; each will die for their own sin.

— Deuteronomy 24:16

The Talmud rejects the idea that people can be justly punished for another person's sins and Judaism in general upholds the idea of individual responsibility. One interpretation is that, even though there is no moral guilt for descendants, they may be negatively impacted as a consequence of their forebear's actions.

Hinduism, Japanese Shinto, Greek Mythology and even Witchcraft have some form generational curses.

Now, knowing this; let's talk about generational curses. We have the biblical definitions, the world definitions, so let's talk about our personal experiences and how we hope to end our family's generational curses.

I know you said your grandma had your mom at age 14 and your mom had you at age 16.

My mom had my oldest sister at age 17 and my sister had her first born at age 15. But I recently learned at a family reunion that my great grandma was raped and at age 14 or 15 and had a son by her sister's husband. We recently met a descendant of that union whose grandfather was orphaned to protect this secret.

I had a guy tell me once, when I was about 17 or 18, that I would become an addict because I come from a family of addicts. He was speaking statistically. I vowed to not become addicted to anything and lived that way for a really long time. Or so I thought I was.

When I was about 23 I really dove into the Bible and allowed God to show me who I was. And what I found was that I was an addict. I was addicted to lust. Sexual lust. Not sex but lust. I wrote a poem about it that starts off like "I'm a slave to my sin and lust is my master. I'm praying to God to be saved so that my heart can be captured...".
