info_outlineKim Douglas on Triumphing Over Our Triggers
Kim Douglas is a National Marketing Director with The Juice Plus+ Company. She is also a wife, a mom of four, a grandmother of four, a former university professor, and the founder and CEO of Write to Unite (www.write2unite.org). In this conversation, Kim talks to us about the higher and lower mindsets. We all encounter triggers every day; the choice is whether to process those triggers through the higher or lower mindset. That choice determines not only how we respond, but also what we value. Our priorities shift if we are living in the lower mindset of fight, flight, or freeze. In the higher mindset that is defined by clarity, faith, trust, peace, conviction of calling, and an others-focused motivation, our priorities remain what we could call “holy” even in the face of challenges and trials. The example of Nehemiah comes to mind. In chapter six verse three, Nehemiah responds to his triggers by saying, “I am doing a great work and will not come down. Why should I leave this [higher level of thinking and operating] to come down to [your lower level of thinking and operating]?” This is what Kim teaches us about in this incredible conversation.
