9. Mom Life + Whatnot Life: Building a Business as a Mom Without Burning Out

In this episode, I wanted to talk about something very real — how to balance family and business without completely losing your mind. If you’re a mom trying to build a business and you feel like it’s impossible to do shows, package orders, and be present for your kids, this episode is for you. I share what I’ve learned from building Moms & Crumbs while raising four kids and how I stopped trying to make everything look “perfect.”

I talk about what it actually looks like to run live Whatnot shows with kids in the house — noise, chaos, crying, breastfeeding, and all. I explain why being honest with your audience changed everything for me and why trying to be “perfect” only creates more stress. Your people aren’t looking for perfection — they’re looking for connection.

I also share the hard moments, like feeling guilty for ending shows early to take care of my kids and learning that family always needs to come first. There were times I felt torn between making sales and being the mom my kids needed. Over time, I realized that my kids were the reason I was building this business — not the obstacle.

We also talk about burnout, exhaustion, and learning how to set personal boundaries. I’m honest about forgetting to eat, not drinking water, and pushing myself too hard. I share why taking care of your health is not selfish — it’s necessary if you want to grow long-term.

Finally, I share practical things that helped me stay organized — from using the Notes app to creating simple schedules and giving myself grace when things don’t go perfectly. I want moms to know you don’t have to figure it all out before you start. You start messy, you adjust, and you grow.
