Hi Everyone, Carl Gould here your #70secondCEO, just over a minute of investment per day for a lifetime of results.
Well I’m sure you’ve heard the 80:20 principle right? 80% of your results come from 20% of either your top people or your top processes or your top actions. Well in the whole solution problem scenario, it’s 90:10, meaning you spend 90% working the solution and only 10% on the problem. Right, problems are addicting, right? There’s a lot of drama there's a lot of adrenaline that comes with them, we feel important because we have big problems and if we’re not getting significance from our solutions we start getting significance from our problems, right? Don’t you know someone like that? No matter what you ask them their problem has to be bigger than yours, they have to have drama in their life, they can never seem to have things just run very smoothly, right? So, you don’t want to be one of those people, where you’ve run out of ways to be significant with your solutions, ok. Because otherwise the only other way to get significance is through your problems. We don’t want that, we want to take 10% of the time, identify the problem, ok.
I call it dumping out your purse. Take the entire problem, dump out your purse. Put everything out on the table, but do it once, any more than that you are just indulging in the problem. So get it out, get the entire issue all of the aspects of it out on the table then spend 90% of your time focused on the solution and how you make it better.
