Troubles come to all of us—and how we handle them defines our peace and effectiveness. Sarah Young’s insight from Jesus Calling drives this home: "Rehearsing your troubles results in experiencing them many times, whereas you are meant to go through them only when they actually occur." You can find peace in the midst of troubles. This truth challenges a common tendency—to ruminate on problems long before (or after) they happen, replaying them in our minds like a broken record. Instead, God calls us to a different way of handling struggle, a way rooted in trust, courage, and rest....

Marriage isn’t about becoming one person. It’s about two whole individuals choosing to grow together in a way that creates something far stronger than the sum of its parts. But the reality? That's the heartbeat of a powerhouse marriage. Consider Dan and Joanne Miller. Dan Miller, the New York Times Best-Selling author who passed two years ago, left a...

In one of the most powerful moments of Jesus’ life, when He was tested in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-4), He faced raw human hunger. The devil tempted Him with a straightforward challenge: “Turn these stones into bread.” After all, Jesus is hungry after fasting for forty days and forty nights. The need was real, the desire immediate. Yet Jesus' response cuts deeper than physical need: “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” That reply is not just about hunger or sustenance. It’s a declaration about the source of...

Too many parents today are caught chasing the mirage of “being friends” with their kids — seeking approval and camaraderie instead of stepping fully into their role as parents. Let’s be blunt: parenting isn’t about winning a popularity contest. It’s about showing up as the adults who love fiercely, set firm boundaries, and deliver discipline that actually sticks. If you want your children to thrive and leave a lasting impact on the world, you must put the “parent” back in parenting. Why Parents Must Parent, Not “Friend” Friendship with your kids can seem like an easy,...
info_outlineDuring the magical season of Christmas, when hearts are full of joy and homes are adorned with lights, it's a perfect opportunity to reflect on the true essence of giving: growing your kids from takers to givers.
Just as God selflessly gave the greatest gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, to the world, we, as parents, can teach our children the transformative power of generosity and service.

In the spirit of Christmas and the teachings of God, let us guide our children on a journey from being takers to becoming givers, mirroring the ultimate act of love and sacrifice demonstrated by Jesus.
"Christmas is a time to celebrate the gift of love through giving. By nurturing a spirit of generosity in our children, we not only honor the true meaning of this season but also embody the selfless nature of God's love." ~ Kristianne Wargo
The K.I.S.S. ~ Give the gift of giving!
1. Lead by Christ's Example
The story of Christmas begins with the humble birth of Jesus, God's unconditional love for humanity. As parents, we can emulate Christ's teachings by embodying compassion, kindness, and generosity in our daily lives.
"Just as God gave us His greatest gift, we can teach our children to give selflessly to others." ~ Kristianne Wargo
Invite your children to participate in acts of service, such as volunteering at a local shelter, donating toys to underprivileged children, or helping an elderly neighbor decorate for Christmas. Through these actions, children learn to share Christ's love through their deeds.
2. Cultivate the Fruit of the Spirit
Christmas is a season of faith, hope, and love, as highlighted in the fruits of the Spirit described in the Bible. Encouraging children to embody these virtues—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—enables them to become vessels of God's grace.
"Teach your children to bear the fruit of the Spirit in their interactions with others, spreading the light of Christ." ~ Kristianne Wargo
Engage your children in crafting handmade cards for the elderly, singing carols at a nursing home, or baking treats for frontline workers. Encourage them to embody the virtues of love, kindness, and joy as they share God's blessings with those around them.
3. Spread the Light of Christ
Just as candles illuminate the darkness, our acts of kindness and generosity can bring hope and warmth to those in need. Inspire your children to be beacons of Christ's light by extending grace, mercy, and love to others.
"Let your children shine brightly with the love of Christ, bringing warmth and comfort to those around them." ~ Kristianne Wargo
Create a family tradition of performing random acts of kindness throughout the Christmas season, such as donating to a charitable cause, delivering meals to the homeless, or expressing gratitude to essential workers. Encourage your children to be channels of God's love and light in a world that needs it most.
Helping children go from takers to givers is a gradual process that requires nurturing, guidance, and continuous reinforcement. In other words, it's not going to happen overnight. So keep repeating the selfless gifts of giving.
As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and the gift of salvation, may we reflect His love by nurturing a spirit of generosity and service in our children. By following Christ's example, cultivating the fruits of the Spirit, and spreading His light to others, we empower our children to embrace the true meaning of Christmas and embody God's love in all they do.
