info_outline“A lot of people in the business world tell me they don't have 30 minutes for mindfulness. … [But] there are all these opportunities for mindfulness hidden in life.” — Nate Klemp
Mindfulness is good for more than a morning meditation or a nighttime wind-down. Used consistently, it can help you feel less anxious in every moment of your life.
This week, Nate Klemp, author and co-founder of corporate coaching company LifeXT, tells me how he draws on his mindfulness practice in daily tasks, from answering emails to taking crowded flights.
Nate originally wanted to be a philosopher, but a serious bike injury and disillusion with academia turned his focus to finding practical applications for the ideas he was studying. In his quest, he discovered mindfulness, and started to look into its potential for improving mental health.
With his LifeXT co-founder Eric Langshur, Nate wrote a book, Start Here: Master the Lifelong Habit of Wellbeing, about using mindfulness to decrease stress and improve mood. He followed it up with The 80/80 Marriage: A New Model for a Happier, Stronger Relationship, written with his wife Kaley Klemp.
In our conversation, we talk about how Nate uses mindfulness and meditation as tools, the importance of making an effort in your relationships every single day, and how to manage distractions beyond just ignoring them.
You’ll also learn:
- How physical adjustments can affect your mental state
- How to really enjoy the mental health benefits of nature, wherever you live
- About “email apnea” and how to address it
- How to use habit stacking to improve your daily routine
- How to instantly shift your mental state through gratitude
- Why micro-moments matter more than dramatic gestures — at work and at home
- And more!
