Shady Lawyer Podcast
In this week’s off-the-rails episode of The Shady Lawyer Podcast, we sit down with therapist Jim Dolan—a man whose father was (no joke) a bona fide hit man and lifelong criminal. We talk about the dark side of the legal profession, including lawyer burnout, depression, and anxiety, and how Jim’s…unusual…upbringing shaped his perspective on mental health. But wait—there’s more! We also dish on Candy Barr, the legendary Dallas stripper, and how her story intersects with the world of crime, law, and maybe a bit of scandal. Buckle up. This episode’s got everything:...

Alright, cats and kittens, welcome back to The Shady Lawyer Podcast, where we take a hard look at the law through a lens more cracked than a James Joyce novel. This week, we’ve got Carey Worrell, a Harvard-educated legal eagle who’s managed to accomplish what most lawyers believe to be impossible—she has managed to build a thriving law practice while maintaining her sanity. “Practice law for profit and fun,” they said. Well, Carey has apparently cracked the code. Carey’s got one of those origin stories that would make a Marvel screenwriter salivate—Harvard Law, where Supreme...

Welcome to The Shady Lawyer Podcast, the world's premier legal podcast for the lawyer, law student, and layperson, alike. It’s our first episode, so if you’re listening, congrats—you’re ahead of the curve. In this episode, I sit down with the incomparable Robert Epstein, a lawyer who’s somehow managed to juggle Judaism, running a law firm, and a love for rock legends with equal aplomb. Here’s What You'll Hear: Judaism: Religion or race? Judaism’s Role in Law: We get into how Jewish values and traditions sneak their way into the law. Jewish Stereotypes: Yep, we went there. Jewish...

info_outlineAlright, cats and kittens, welcome back to The Shady Lawyer Podcast, where we take a hard look at the law through a lens more cracked than a James Joyce novel.
Carey’s got one of those origin stories that would make a Marvel screenwriter salivate—Harvard Law, where Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan once called on her in class. Spoiler alert: Carey went full deer-in-the-headlights. But there’s no need to worry, Carey’s got a better redemption arc than Robert Downey, Jr.
After stepping away from the law to be a stay-at-home mom, she dove back into the legal world, started her own practice—Simple Law Texas—where she’s been serving up no-nonsense solutions in business law, immigration, probate, and real estate.
Oh, and let’s not forget, she’s a thrill-seeker too. Cliff jumping? Paragliding? Probably gets her adrenaline fix before breakfast. Work-life balance? Nailed it.
