Summary
This week on In Touch With iOS, Dave Ginsburg is joined by Jeff Gamet, Chuck Joiner, Marty Jencius, Jill McKinley, and Eric Bolden for a wide-ranging discussion covering the latest developments across Apple’s ecosystem.
The episode opens with a tribute to longtime technology journalist John C. Dvorak, as the panel reflects on his decades-long influence on computer journalism, podcasting, and the tech community.
From there, the conversation turns to Apple’s newest developer and public betas for iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, visionOS 27, watchOS 27, and tvOS 27. The panel shares hands-on impressions of Apple Intelligence, Siri improvements, Liquid Glass refinements, Photos enhancements, Vision Pro updates, battery performance, and numerous quality-of-life improvements arriving across Apple’s platforms.
The discussion continues with reports that Apple may replace its long-running iPhone Upgrade Program with a new leasing model. The group examines how the rumored program could change annual upgrades, financing options, AppleCare coverage, and whether buying an iPhone outright may still be the better value for many users.
AI remains a major focus as the panel explores Claude Code’s new ability to build, run, and test iOS applications directly inside Apple’s Simulator, opening new possibilities for AI-assisted app development. They also discuss newly discovered Mac malware targeting Terminal users, hidden Apple Intelligence features uncovered in macOS betas, expanded international support in Apple Sports, and why AppleCare One continues to become a better value for customers with multiple Apple devices.
Rounding out the news, the panel looks at Apple’s testing of AI-powered Live Notes at the Genius Bar to improve customer support and repair documentation before discussing Apple’s announcement that The Morning Show will conclude after its fifth season.
The episode wraps up with another entertaining edition of Things Found, featuring useful apps, accessories, developer tools, and productivity utilities that Apple enthusiasts will want to explore.
