info_outlineJanae Gonzalez is now a full-time professional competing in Liga BBVA MX Femenil, the highest division of women’s soccer in Mexico, after signing a contract with Club América Femenil. With the 2020 season now one week old, the Folsom, California, native is expected to make her debut once the transaction is cleared by the Mexican Football Federation.
Gonzalez’s return to Mexico takes place after her successful two-year career at UC Davis, which ended with All-Big West First Team honors.
Gonzalez, who possesses dual citizenship in the United States and Mexico, previously competed for the U-17 Mexican Women’s National Team and helped the squad win its inaugural CONCACAF championship in 2013. That year, she led the team in goals (three) and assists (four) while attending Vista Del Lago High School as a junior.
Mexico defeated the United States and Canada, on penalty kicks in the semifinals and finals, to win the 2013 title.
