Ep 33 - Remove the Friction from your Routine show art Ep 33 - Remove the Friction from your Routine

Karen Davies Coaching Podcast

This episode is about something deeply unsexy, wildly practical, and genuinely life-changing: removing friction from your routine. I’m not talking about fixing your whole life or solving big, dramatic problems. I’m talking about the tiny, annoying barriers that quietly drain your energy every single day. The stuff that shouldn’t be hard, but somehow always is. Packing your bag in the morning. Forgetting snacks. Bills sitting in the back of your mind. Rewriting the same emails. Deciding what to cook. Making the same decisions over and over again until you’re exhausted before the day has...

Ep 32 - What is the Cost? show art Ep 32 - What is the Cost?

Karen Davies Coaching Podcast

This episode is a look at the real cost of the choices we avoid, delay, or quietly justify. Not money, but the stuff that drains your confidence, self-trust, energy, and future while you’re telling yourself you’re being sensible. Episode 32 is about the moments where you realise something has cost you far more than you ever budgeted for. The “safe” job. The comfortable relationship. The conversation you didn’t have. The dream you parked for later. On paper, everything looks fine. In your body and your mind, something feels off. I talk about the hidden costs most people never factor...

Ep 31 - The Harmless Habits That Are Holding You Back show art Ep 31 - The Harmless Habits That Are Holding You Back

Karen Davies Coaching Podcast

There are habits in your life that don’t look like a problem. They’re not dramatic, destructive, or obviously unhealthy. They’re normal, defensible, and quietly woven into your day. And that’s exactly why they’re dangerous. In this episode, I unpack the micro self-sabotages that gently but consistently pull you away from your best self. Not the obvious stuff like alcohol, smoking, or junk food. You already know those matter. This is about the small, repeated behaviours that feel harmless in isolation, but compound over years. We explore why: The biggest limits in your life often...

Ep 30 - The Reinvention Rulebook - What I Wish I’d Known Sooner show art Ep 30 - The Reinvention Rulebook - What I Wish I’d Known Sooner

Karen Davies Coaching Podcast

Episode 30 is about reinvention, not the Instagram kind, but the real, uncomfortable, deeply liberating kind. I’ve had plenty of “fine” chapters in my life. Fine jobs. Fine relationships. Fine versions of myself. And here’s what I’ve learned: fine is dangerous. It looks good on the outside, but it quietly suffocates your potential. In this episode, I unpack the five lessons that shaped my biggest reinventions, from leaving the UK at 29, to studying engineering in my 30s, to building Transformation 28 from scratch. We talk about why reinvention is supposed to feel awkward, why clarity...

Ep 29 - Starting Journaling show art Ep 29 - Starting Journaling

Karen Davies Coaching Podcast

In this episode, I talk about how journalling went from “Dear Diary” embarrassment to a genuine life-changing practice for me. I share how I rediscovered journalling after moving to Australia, getting back into reading, and stepping into personal development, and why writing things down was the moment dreams started turning into actual goals. You’ll hear real examples of how journalling helped me: Catch my own limiting beliefs that were stopping me applying for senior roles. Realise when anger was actually masking hurt or fear. Spot patterns in my relationships and my leadership...

Ep 28 - Ask Better Questions show art Ep 28 - Ask Better Questions

Karen Davies Coaching Podcast

Most people think the quality of their life depends on their job, their car, or their relationships. But what if it actually depends on something far simpler, and far more powerful? The questions you ask. In this episode, Karen dives into how the quality of your questions directly shapes the quality of your life. From the seemingly small: “How can I get a job?”, to the life-changing “How can I create a life that excites me?”. Karen shares how reframing the questions you ask yourself can completely change your perspective, your results, and your growth. Drawing inspiration from Leila...

Ep 27 - Embrace the Serendipity - Kismet - Destiny - Fate show art Ep 27 - Embrace the Serendipity - Kismet - Destiny - Fate

Karen Davies Coaching Podcast

Sometimes the biggest turning points in life don’t come from strategy, they come from sheer serendipity. In this episode, I’m diving into the magic (and science) of fate, those strange, unexpected moments that reroute your entire life when you least expect it. From the date that took me from Adelaide to Darwin, to the argument that led me to quit my job and move from the UK to Australia, to the random introduction that became a twenty-year friendship, I’ve learnt that life’s detours often lead to the best destinations. But this isn’t all woo-woo. Modern psychology, neuroscience, and...

Ep 26 - Persistence Pays show art Ep 26 - Persistence Pays

Karen Davies Coaching Podcast

Persistence isn’t glamorous, but it’s the reason every success story exists. In this episode, I talk about the one skill that underpins everything: persistence. The ability to keep going, keep learning, and keep believing: even when life gives you a thousand reasons to quit. I share my own story of persistence; from restarting my engineering degree in my 30s (after talking myself out of it once) to building my career, businesses, and discipline brick by brick. I also dive into the powerful examples of people who turned “no” into “not yet”: J.K. Rowling, rejected by 12 publishers...

Ep 24 - Taking Responsibility show art Ep 24 - Taking Responsibility

Karen Davies Coaching Podcast

Choosing to blame others as the response to a situation, means that you are degrading yourself. You see, when we continuously blame others it can reinforce a negative self-image. It suggests that we view ourselves as a victim rather than someone who is in control of their life and who has the ability and power to make choices.   Blaming others can serve as a way to avoid facing uncomfortable truths about ourselves and our actions. It can be a form of escapism that hinders personal development.  So if you constantly hear yourself saying things like, "it's not my...

On August 21 2021 - 2 years ago at the age of 40 - I stopped drinking.

I didn't put a time limit on it like I had done in the past, I literally just said to myself, "let's see what's possible".

In today's episode I talk about my journey to giving up alcohol and how it took my a few years of the odd week and the odd month off the booze here and there and I also talk about how you don't have to hit rock bottom before you decide to stop.

I discuss how perimenopause and HRT affected my efforts and I also tell you how two outstanding questions can change your life.
