info_outlineRelationships are not easy, and yet when we have harmonious relationships, it's something to celebrate. Join us for a light-hearted study in Psalm 133 as we look at the importance of unity and how to find it and how to maintain it.
DISCUSSION AND STUDY QUESTIONS:
1. Today’s study is about unity. How would you define unity? What is it based on? What sustains unity? What breaks it?
2. How does verse 1 characterize unity? Since we know that David wrote this psalm, where were some places where we know he did not experience this kind of unity?
3. Although verse 2 might seem a bit gross to us, precious oil was an important part of their ancient culture. How was oil used? What did it signify? How would its aroma be something people would want to have on them?
4. Why does David compare it to the dew of Mount Hermon? Why would dew have been a blessing in that part of the world? How would its cool waters refresh the people? How is this a picture of unity?
5. The podcast took some time to read over John 17. Why do you think the Lord prayed for the unity of His people in verses 21 to 23? According to John 17:15, who seeks to divide God’s people? What are some of his tactics? How can God’s people be on guard against him?
6. Is there any place of disunity in your life? If so, how are you contributing to the problem? Are there any changes you can make to pursue unity with those around you?
