The book was inspired by Lynn's son's battle with dyslexia and their journey to understanding and managing the learning disability. Lynn and her son created Robbie as a neurodiverse character that children can relate to, seeking to foster understanding and acceptance among young readers. She also discusses the importance of advocating for your child's unique learning needs, obtaining further education on learning disabilities, and finding supportive communities.
