“It’s been a slow progression and I just have to keep reminding myself, I have so much shit that's been buried within because I didn't deal with that for 35 years. I have to slowly unpeel the layers back and not feeling shame or guilt around putting myself in this position because sometimes people can think, well, God, I just put myself into position. It's funny when we start to listen to the conversations we have with ourselves and how cruel we can be with ourselves. And it's just in just being gentle with ourselves and noticing the thought and letting it go and being okay.” In this...

"Most of the time when people are in my sphere, you know, they're basically having trouble with weight loss. They're struggling with symptoms such as they keep gaining weight, they can't lose weight or they're losing weight, gaining weight, losing weight, gaining weight. They can't sleep. Maybe they have trouble following sleep, Maybe they have trouble staying asleep or maybe they fall asleep just fine. But then wake up in the middle of the night between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. They have belly fat. They have extra fat on their back. They don't feel like themselves. They have no energy. Their snappy...

“The worst thing we can do and people do this is to be antagonistic and fight and complain and argumentative with them about it, which people do, and then take that home and rant about it at Facebook groups and the spouse and then lash out their kids. Because here's what I'm going to say, is that you're the one losing. At the end of the day, it's not them, and you're only going to feel worse because guess what really got you sick in the first place probably is all the psychological stress you've had in your life and then you're just reinforcing it. So like it's always going to be about...

“I really believe that we will always follow through with who we believe that we are and we'll never be able to do something that is inconsistent with our identity. So, if you don't believe you're the kind of person who would X, Y, Z, your brain's not even going to question if you can or not, because that's not who I am. So, whenever I'm working with someone, for example, I'm always making sure that whatever the changes I help create, whether it's from anxiety to confidence or whatever, the happiness, like whenever I help them get that result, we make sure that that becomes a part of their...

“At the end of the year, I always sit and I think, what am I most grateful for? And you know, what's crazy is I was most grateful for the worst moments. because I could see how I processed myself through them. And I could see such huge growth like, I could just see and it made me proud of how you had navigated them. And so, yeah, I really just think it's every single thought that I have. Is just let's uncover what this is, because when I can, then I can propel forward. I really can truly see everything that I uncover that feels uncomfortable is a way to move forward.” In this episode of...
info_outline"Kelly, you got that one, too, the A-OK one Gene. Lactose intolerance, too, as well. You don't make this enzyme very well called lactase. Remember, it's an enzyme ends in a chop, chop chop that breaks down the big giant molecule of dairy, cow's milk. The problem with cow's milk is the molecule is huge. And you're trying to put it's like trying to push your elephant through your bedroom door for folks that have these issues. They drink milk or have ice cream, which I love, unfortunately. And the problem is the molecule is too big to fit through the cells to get into your bloodstream, and it causes digestive disruption. Kelly would benefit from taking lactase digestive enzymes if she does want to have dairy."
In this episode of Master Your Mindset and Metabolism, I had the pleasure of having the most amazing conversation with my dear friend and brilliant, Dr. Daniel Farkas, a functional medicine doctor, who specializes in gut health, neurotransmitters, and genetics.
Some of the topics covered in the episode are:
*Why certain genetic snps make you susceptible to certain food intolerances
*What you can do with certain genetic snps - how you can work with and around them.
*You may not have the ability to change your DNA and your genetics but you certainly can break the "cycle" and change your epigenetics.
