More About Sommerly Simser
Sommerly holds a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Abilene Christian University. She started her career as a news reporter for NPR. The inability to add whimsical and exhilarating arcs to her story, otherwise known as fiction, propelled her to switch career paths and pursue a Master of Fine Arts in Producing for Cinema & TV from Regent University.  

In her final year as a grad student, she landed an internship on a CBS show that rolled into a job in Los Angeles. Since then, she has worked for a few of the industry’s titans- Agency for the Performing Arts (APA), Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, and Imagine Entertainment. Sommerly currently works in Feature Film Production Finance at Netflix. Previously, Sommerly was honored as a New Leader to Watch in Variety Magazine. 

Sommerly serves on the board of the Junior League of Los Angeles and the leadership team of The Greenhouse Arts & Media Organization. She is the current District 3 Representative for the North Hollywood Neighborhood Council and actively volunteers with the Girl Scouts of the USA and the Miss America Scholarship Program. Sommerly is a member of Women in Film and, with her husband, Nathanael, founded the Tinseltown Scholarship Society.
