If you are getting this episode - it means the Redirect I put in place at Libsyn is not working for this aggregator app. That is 100% an issue with Libsyn and not this aggregator app or user error on my part. I have manually updated the feed in Apple - but that does not mean it updated at the client level - so you might be getting this in Apple Podcasts - if so you might need to unfollow and refollow. I apologize for any extra work you need to do to get this show. Libsyn Changed feeds for shows in October - and part of that change was the URL’s for the...

Remembering my good friend Todd Cochrane. This is a special feed drop of the memorial for Todd on the New Media Show, with Rob Greenlee, Adam Curry, Mike Dell, and myself. Todd you will be greatly missed.

This is the remastered interview I did with Todd Cochrne back in March of 2005. This was pulled down with my original 30 eps because of bad audio quality - but I was able to remaster the original interview using Adobe sweetening tools. No one has given more to the podcast space the last 20+ years than Todd. He will be greatly missed.

For those getting Programmatic advertising and with a large back catalog, Januarys revenue likely was a big drop vs Decembers revenue. Even for those with small back catalogues there was still going to be a drop. There is a seasonality to Programmatic ads - where Q4 is the best quarter and Q1 the worst quarter. With December being the best Month and January being the worst month. In short you have Ad buyers over buying ads to use up yearly budgets for December. And then ad buys for January are also lighter as Ad buyers take the last two weeks of the month off for the...

I get asked often about Video podcasts and if someone should do a video podcast to go with their audio podcast or in place of it. Some think Video is the next big thing in Podcasting. Actually Audio was the next big thing in Podcasting. Back when podcasting started many of the most popular podcasts were Video (Tikibar TV, Ask a Ninja, Show Biz Newsy News, Rocketboom..) But Youtube won Video - and Podcasting has become mostly an Audio medium. Look in the Apple top 200 episodes chart and you will not find any Video episodes. That said - there are still good reasons...

info_outlineIf you are getting this episode - it means the Redirect I put in place at Libsyn is not working for this aggregator app.
Libsyn Changed feeds for shows in October - and part of that change was the URL’s for the feeds updated / changed. Sadly for the new feed URL’s the redirect option in Libsyn is not working. And if you are hearing this - it means you have not received the most recent episode of Podcast411.
The most recent episode is episode 238 - with Jake Pentland and an important message from me at the beginning - please listen to that episode. It is one I published on Captivate - the new home for Podcast411 podcast. Again listen to that message at the beginning of ep 238 for more info.
If you go to podcast411.com - you can find ep 238 - and the beginning of the episode will explain why the show is no longer hosted at Libsyn.
But this episode is a way to let those listeners like you know - that right now Libsyn’s feed redirects are broken for this show and all Podcasts with feeds that end with .xml - this would impact any and all shows redirecting since October 2025.
Hopefully Libsyn will eventually fix this. But for now I recommend checking podcast411.com to see what the latest episode is. Goal is to release new eps every other Tuesday.
FOR PODCASTERS - If you are looking to move off of Libsyn it is advised first you add in the iTunes new feed tag at the show slash Channel level - with your new feed URL. Do this prior to adding the redirect. Try to do this a week before you add the redirect. Then check to see where it has updated at. Then go and add a redirect at Libsyn. If you need instructions on adding in the new feed URL - email me podcast411 at gmail dot com
After that go in to Libsyn and publish an episode with a message similar to this and title similar to this. That will allow you to see where your show is not redirected and more importantly let you listeners know why they are not getting new episodes.
Do not publish that episode until AFTER you confirm the redirect is working for the original RSS feed - the one that typically ended with slash rss - not the one with .xml
The libsyn feed URL that starts with feeds.libsyn - the redirect does works for listeners subscribed still to that. But that will NOT be all your subscribers - it might not even be most.
https://feeds.libsyn.com/341774/rss
https://rss.libsyn.com/shows/341774/destinations/2788826.xml
Again in October Libsyn updated to feeds that now start with rss.libsyn and end with .xml - those feeds are not being redirected at the time this was published.
Here is the thing - you most likely did not realize your feed was changed to .xml - As libsyn did not inform users of this change - but your feed URL was changed. In the UI - it is still showing you the feeds.libsyn URL when you copy the feed URL. But those were updated to the rss.libsyn URL that ends with .xml in the October time frame.
Again - recommended process for leaving libsyn AFTER all files are imported to a new host.
- In the Libsyn UI - Add in iTunes new feed tag with the new feed from your new host - then wait a few days to a week.
- In the Libsyn UI - Add in the redirect to the new feed from your new host.
- Confirm for the feeds.libsyn URL that the redirect is working.
- Publish an episode in the Libsyn UI - NOT your new host - with a title similar to this episode - with a message letting your listeners know if they are hearing this - then they are subscribed to a feed URL that the redirect is not working for.
Then look at your stats in Libsyn to see how many downloads this post redirect special episode gets.
Then email support at libsynsupport dot com and let them know your shows redirect for the .xml feed is not working - and you want your feed fully redirected.
