Lia Smith, We Remember the Trans Middlebury College Student
Family, this morning we mourn the loss of Lia Smith a 21 year old trans student from Middlebury College. Lia was first reported missing on October 19th by her family, but she was last seen on campus October 17th. Lia was found on October 23 by the Vermont State Police close to the college’s organic farm. She’s remembered dearly by her friends and family.

A New Texas Rule Allows Judges to Stop Marrying Same-Sex Couples
Ahead of the Supreme Court’s decision whether to hear the case of Obergefell v. Hodges, a case that could affect the future of marriage equality on Nov. 7th, the Texas Supreme court tried being slick by passing a quiet ruling that allows judges to stop marrying “same-sex” couples.
LGBTQ Food Pantries Stand In as SNAP Benefits Aren’t Issued
In the face of this detrimental loss for approximately 42 million people, LGBTQ food pantries across the nation are stepping up to help. According to Advocate, the "Pride Pantries" at the LGBT Life Center in Virginia already provide assistance to about 650 households a month, or roughly 1,700 people, which amounted to around 285,000 lbs of food distributed in 2024.

Trans Teen Ian Ring was awarded a $60,000 Settlement From Washington School District
We celebrate a big win for Ian Ring, a trans teen from Washington. He and his family were awarded a five figure settlement from the Spokane School District over his 2021 assault by his classmates. They fought back and they won!
The International Trans Fund is Open
The International Trans Fund has opened up applications for 2025. The Fund is in its 10th year of activity and is “a participatory fund shaped by trans activists and donors, dedicated to expanding resources for trans-led organizing.” The deadline to apply is December 1st. For more information, head to transfund.org.
