“Managing a 10-unit building is very similar to managing 100-unit buildings.”

Emma transitioned from commercial and wedding photography to real estate investing, drawn by the industry's opportunities and path to financial freedom. She began by investing in duplexes and triplexes, before moving on to raising capital for larger 100-unit apartment buildings.

 

According to Emma, networking and collaborating with experienced professionals proved to be a key factor in her success.

“You should not get into the landlording business if you're only in it for the money. It should be because you love buildings, and the people who live and work in them, and you find construction, development, and all those things fascinating.”

Emma highlights that capital raising is a multi-step process, requiring patience and perseverance due to its time-consuming nature.

 

Emma shares how she achieved financial freedom. She balanced smaller, cash-flowing properties she owned directly with involvement in larger commercial deals. Once rental income matched their day job income, Emma and her husband quit their jobs, and eventually reached true financial freedom through the power of compounding.

Emma went from stay-at-home mom of 6 to a multimillionaire in less than 5 years. In 2022, she hit a huge goal by retiring her husband early on real estate investing. She has partnered on almost 1,000 apartment units and sponsors a free commercial investing club to help other investors expand their portfolios. 

 

As co-founder and president of Rise Capital Invesments, a boutique private debt and equity fund, Emma has raised several million dollars of capital for joint ventures and syndications. Emma hosts Passive Income Adventures Podcast with over 50 episodes, and has been featured on nearly 100 podcasts and has an easy to interview style
