312: Seahawks magic number is 35, Dolphins achieve 'perfect record' vs NFC West
Release Date: 11/12/2020
Sea Hawkers Podcast
The Seahawks defense put on a clinic against the Panthers, suffocating Carolina’s offense and consistently pressuring Bryce Young. The defense limited Young to less than 60 yards through the air and Julian Love picked off Young once. Rico Dowdle actually had more yards on the ground by himself than the entire passing offense. Zach Charbonnet's 122 yards nearly eclipsed the Panthers 139 total yards and his two touchdowns would have been all the offense they needed. Ultimately, the Seahawks 27-10 victory keeps them on pace to win the NFC West and take the top seed heading into the playoffs....

The Seahawks next step in their playoff push goes through the Carolina Panthers. We discuss injury updates with Charles Cross out once again and Coby Bryant joining him, plus we got a very limited update on Tory Horton from Coach Macdonald. We also talk about the suspension of Derick Hall and who could step up in his absence. Our latest poll reveals that most fans worry less about the Panthers’ threats and more about Seattle’s own ability to execute, especially in the run game. In the second half of the show, we take a look at our "best bets" and which players could see some favorable...

Did we just witness the Game of the Year? Down by 16 points in the fourth quarter, the team overcame the odds with a pivotal punt return, a wild two-point conversion, and an incredible touchdown grab by AJ Barner. Sam Darnold overcame early turnovers and led his second straight comeback win, while Zach Charbonnet and Kenneth Walker III put up more yards on the ground than the Rams offense that didn't look like they could be stopped. The defense, after struggling to contain the Rams early, locked in when it mattered most. And thanks to all that craziness, our Seahawks have now secured a spot in...

We take a brief look back at the win over the Indianapolis Colts, and Jason Myers incredible performance with six field goals, before looking ahead with optimism at the Rams game on Thursday night. Concerns about offensive consistency continue, but if the offense can convert their scoring drives to touchdowns and continue to limit turnovers, Coach Macdonald has seemed to find a way to limit the Rams explosive offense. Defensively, Seattle should even be able to improve with Jarran Reed in the lineup after missing the first Rams game, Ernest Jones seemingly healthy in comparison and Julian Love...
info_outlineAt the midpoint of the season, the Seahawks are 6-2, but they found another way to lose in frustrating fashion. According to Adam, this was even more frustrating than the loss to the Cardinals, because the team played whatever the opposite is of complementary football. Instead, each phase of the game contributed to something that made it more difficult for another phase. Whether it was giving up a big return on special teams, untimely turnovers, or making a terrible decision on defense when it mattered most, each phase found a way to contribute to the loss. But it's not just on the players, or on the coaches, there is blame to share throughout the organization for some of what we're seeing on the field.
Fortunately, for a defense that seems to have most of their difficulty with mobile quarterbacks, there aren't many left on the schedule. Jared Goff is the next man up to face this Seahawks defense. Can the team make the necessary adjustments based on issues we've seen in the recent loss to the Bills and some of the previous games as well? Will an improved offensive line be able to slow down Aaron Donald? But maybe the most fun matchup will be seeing DK Metcalf going up against Jalen Ramsey.
The last team to face the Los Angeles Rams was the Miami Dolphins. Not only did Miami win that game, but they also beat the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Sam Marcoux, of the podcast Welcome to Perfectville, joins the show to take a victory lap for their "perfect record" in the NFC West.
Also in the second half of the show, we remembered to announce the latest winner of the Tiny Piece of Seahawks Stuff, but we forgot to bring the latest trivia question (even though Jeremy explained the origin of all the work that went into it). Congratulations go out to Iupati Mouth for the win in the pick'em league this week. Philip Rivers and a Seahawks petitioner land in the Do Better segment this week. While a small town gets cute in their political efforts and our veterans earn Better at Life honors.
