Intro Ends- 3:55

What was the brokenhearted moment that led to teaching us about sacred rest?- 4:58

“I had all the things I said I wanted but none of it was giving me what I really needed.” - 6:30

“If I really want to produce at my highest, most effective level, I have to understand that rest needs to be part of the equation.” - 8:15

What is sacred rest and what could it look like for all of us?- 8:35

“Rest is about restoration and it is sacred because it connects us back to a relationship with God”.8:48

All seven types of rest require a level of trust and release- 9:35

What was man doing while God was resting?- 11:40

“You told them who they were and what they were called to do, and then you set them in a full day of resting, so they could be filled in your Presence, before the work ever got started.”  12:05

We are to work from a place of rest, not work in order to earn rest. 12:35

We can be confident that even when we release things, it doesn’t mean that they are out of God’s hands.” 14:23

“Can I truly say that I trust God if I refuse to rest?” 14:42

“If we can rest within a moment, how are we even going to concieve to enjoy a Sabbath?” Sacred rest is a baby step to understanding how to Sabbath.16:16

The Seven Types of Rest:

  1. Physical
  2. Mental
  3. Spiritual
  4. Emotional
  5. Sensory
  6. Social
  7. Creative- 17:20

“To rest in those areas is to be very intentional about how to restore what you are giving out.” 17:40

You need to think about where you poured out and how you will intentionally be poured back into in those specific areas. 18:40

You don’t want to label people as life-giving or not life-giving. There is an ebb and flow to that in all relationships. It is always a give and take. Sometimes there are relationships that are one sided but that is fine as long as you are aware of it. 23:25

Explanation of Sensory Overload and Rest- 26:35

Three Practical Things we Can do to Rest now- 31:35

  1. Become Comfortable with the Word “No”- 32:00
    1. “Too often we give a reluctant ‘yes’ rather than truthful a ‘no.’”

  2. Getting an understanding for which of the seven types of rest you are needing most 33:10
  3. Getting back to an understanding of the sacred part of rest. 33:50

“How does your rest affect the rest of the world? What is it that God has called you to do, but because you feel so overwhelmed, you are reluctant to even step into.” 34:20

Outro- 35:35
