It's International Women's Day - a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

World-wide – it is about coming together to celebrate women's achievements or rally for women's equality.

The campaign theme this year is #ChooseToChallenge

A challenging world is an alert world. And from challenge comes change.

Today, I am excited to invite you to listen in to a very special conversation I had with Dr. Roddran Grimes – a powerhouse in her own right – she is the Assistant Professor of Special Education at Georgia State and College University just outside Atlanta, Georgia.

Roddran’s story is inspiring because unlike some women, she did not start her career in education. Quite the opposite – she has created her career by design – and now she is doing work she loves.

You see, at the start of our careers, we are all dealt a hand of cards – We have choices how to play the hand - “accept the cards” or with a little gumption, we can choose to challenge the hand we have.

It’s very common to get locked into a career you don’t love – and instead of doing something about it – you hang in there for 40+ years until retirement!

My guest today decided to do something different and although she is now a top professor– that is not where her career started.

If you’re a leader who feels stuck in a career you no longer love…listen in to today’s episode... because it is full of gems – some of which I hope will inspire you to take action and go after what you really want.

Listen in and enjoy the episode.
