Spring revival  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.   This means that our knowledge of men can no longer be based on their outward lives (indeed, even though we knew Christ as a man we do not know him like that any longer). For if a man is in Christ he becomes a new person altogether—the past is finished and gone, everything has become fresh and new. All this is God’s doing, for he has reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ; and he has made us agents of the reconciliation. God was in...

Exodus 20:7 speaks about cursing God. (Don't do it) But what about our language to everyone else?     7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. We honor God’s name (v. 7). The command to not take God’s name in vain is more than simply a prohibition of cursing Him.  Profanity not only reflects a heart darkened with hate, but it shows an utter disrespect for a holy God. The commandment also means that we are not to take God’s name and talk in a way that dishonors us as His reps....

The sin of self righteousness.

Self-righteousness is a sin that can be very deceptive. Self-righteousness is the most deceptive of all sins because it gives you the illusion that you are doing what is right, true, and good before God, yet the whole time you are an abomination to Him 1. Similarly, a lesson by Bible.org states that self-righteousness is a very difficult sin to get people to see and condemn in themselves. But it’s a serious, damnable sin because it keeps people from seeing their need for the gospel. It believes the lie that we can be good enough in ourselves to qualify for heaven.

Seven deadly sins according to the Catholic Church (not the Bible)

  1. Pride: excessive belief in one’s abilities or excessive love of self.
  2. Greed: excessive pursuit of material possessions.
  3. Wrath: uncontrolled feelings of anger, rage, and hatred.
  4. Envy: desire for others’ traits, status, abilities, or situation.
  5. Lust: intense desire or craving for sexual pleasure.
  6. Gluttony: over-indulgence and over-consumption of food, drink, or wealth items.
  7. Sloth: avoidance of physical or spiritual work.

Matthew 7:1-5: “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye” .

Luke 6:37-42: “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a pit? The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye” .

John 8:1-8: “But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her”.
